Saw this doing the rounds the other day on social media: http://balls.ie/football/15-years-on...-championship/

It's a "Where Are They Now?" of the squad that won the Under-18 European Championship in 1998, compiled by our very own Dodge fifteen years on.

And a look back on how conflicts affected so many of you as supporters and players. If not for the arrival of Ruud Dokter i believe it would still be difficult for many of you to attend matches.

    You're a mystery, Crosby.

What's the relevance of the conflict in the north to the 1998 Under-18 European Championship? And what does Ruud Dokter have to do with either?

I do feel it my customary obligation though to quote this paragraph from that piece and shake my head:

This push has been in the spotlight in recent years due to the defection of top Catholic soccer players in Northern Ireland, such as James McClean and Darren Gibson, to the Republic when they turn 21. The Good Friday Agreement allows every Northern Irish citizen to choose between an Irish or British passport.

Ruud Dokter has been behind the scenes for years brokering peace.

Ruud Dokter is a football coach. Even if his personal involvement had been vital to the peace talks in the north - which, of course, it wasn't, as he wasn't involved at all - what would that have to do with the thread anyway, ha?

Sorry - I missed the bit about brokering peace.

Crosby - no harm, but you do come out with the most awful rubbish at times!
