at least he isnt blaming the referee like a lot do on here. speaking of which haw bad was he?

abbey what is your report on the game. i think shannonman saying they should have had a point is about conceeding with a couple of minutes to go. how long was left ehen ye got the winner

In fairness, they went 1 up midway through the first half which was evenly contested, in which we hit the bar but other than that there wasn't too many chances.
The second half was a different story, we scored a pen on the hour (which was a definate pen) and had numerous other chances to seal it, but eventually did when we got the winner with 5 mins to go, where as Shannon didnt have one effort on target in the second half (that I can remember), so even Shannonman will tell you we deserved the 3pts.

There were 2 sent off (one from each team), Shannon player for a two footed tackle who was already on a yellow and a Star player for retaliation for the two footed tackle, but in fairness I thought the ref a had a decent game.

Thats it...its the fact that there was a couple of minutes to go and how soft the goal was from our side...I didn't think the ref was very bad...he got and took alot of abuse but he is generally a good ref, A few little boiling points and two red cards that there is no point debating as they are not going to change.

We have to beat Caherdavin tomorrow night which doesn't really change our thinking as we would have went out to win anyway.

I'm not debating that on chances ye should have won Abbey its just the manner and timing of the goal that hurt.

Ya its not looking good for Balla...They had 7 players and their 2 managers had to play. Both signed at the beginning as backup..Looksl ike they might play more games than they thought. If Croom and Dromore continue their form then Balla would be favourites for the drop.

Caherdavin must be sickened after loosing this game...I felt when Shannon made the obvious decision to move Gerry Kelly to centre forward, they would get the winner.....Thats exactly what happened....Davin centrehalves not able for him..
A great goal by a great goal scorer in fairness...My team have been on the receiving end many the time..

C'davin actually had a chance to wrap it up 2 mins before when Shannon keeper saved brilliantly from Ger Myles..

Only negative was all Shannons attacks came from long throws...Very Rory Delap and Stoke like...But if it works !!

The throw got us the first goal and it is a serious weapon...we have lads who can play ball but when you have that at your disposal your not going not use it because its not pretty.

But your right about Gerry has always scored goals and those goals this season could be what send us up.

It was terrible football, can't remember two passes strung together

Maybe the drama was great but I'd left after the keeper saved from Myles

I was going to say that it was an awful game to watch. Ball was in the air alot nerves played a part too. One thing I will say is I thought the referee had a great game handled everthing well, he is probably the best ref in the league.

Gonna be a big game between Caherdavin and Star. Anyone know when this is on? Id fancy Star to do it myself and get promoted along with Shannon!!

On a diff note, how will the promoted teams do in Prem next year, will they need much strengthening or do they have good enough teams/squads?

albeit premier football outside of the top 3or 4 are generally poor - don't know if I would agree with this but generally the difference between the two leagues is the pace at which the game is played and the fitness levels. The faster a side copes with this the better they do. Best of luck to the teams that get promoted. avoid relegation in the first year and build from there.

IF we go up we will need to strenghten big time have to have a squad that's not only committed but can play a bit as well. We have trained harder this season compared to any other season and that won't drop next season we have a management team in place who will actively seek to bring in new players. But he previous post hit the nail on the head. Have to try and get early points consolidate somewhat and hope then you can win your home games against the other teams in the bottom and anything you get away from home is a bonus....still four games to go though!!!

i think there are 2 big differences between the permier league teams and the teams that come up.

1.Fitness levels are an awful lot better than they are generally speaking in 1a, some teams like Kilmallock had that when they joined the premier division, others like ourselves really struggled earlier in the season due to a poor pre season program and if you don't get some points on the board early its very hard to keep lads interested.

2.Taking of chances,in 1a just say on average you have 7 or 8 chances to score every game and usually its poor finishing that lets you down.In premier you are lucky to get half that ammount and with the same poor finishing you don't score many goals also the teams you are playing against are a lot more clinical than teams outside the premier division.Strangely so far this year we haven't been the worst goalscorers but when you let in a lot more than you score your in trouble.

personally i think Star and Shannon will go up with star being better equipped for the premier league
