I heard that they're actually taking the 15000 from the first division clubs to give to the premier division. Then there'll be a big party at abbotstown, and everyone will be there.
(Except, obviously, 1st division clubs).
I read in one of the national newspapers thiss morning that Premier Division clubs are to recieve € 15,000 "to help them over the current two week break ". Once again the First Division is frowned upon.
Personally I think it's an absolute, total and utter joke !

May I hoke a reek?
They're not reciving grants or additional funding. They're receiving prepayment of money that will be due to them at the end of the season (Prize money, TV money etc etc)
If it helps clubs, I fail to see the negative side

"Here's 500 quid lads to help ye over the two weeks". The majority in the First don't receive any prize money so aren't entitled to any pre payment. I don't have any particular problem with it.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
Surely that €15k was going to help out over the winter break, so what will happen at the end of the season?

I'd imagine many part time players of First Division clubs don't get paid for the week they are not training during the mid season break.
Paying the 15k now and not at the end of the season is the same as taking out a credit card for current expenditure when you're already in debt. That money will have to come from somewhere eventually. I don't think the FAI are helping by doing this.
All clubs knew the mid season break was going to happen. No doubt the PFAI are pushing for this or the FAI knew that some players where not going to be paid maybe and are trying to keep the bad news from the media?
At this stage all clubs know the rules. How many more examples do clubs want of others going belly up before they learn the lessons.
Are they trying to include an extra 15K in this seasons budgets so as to help clubs get under 65% ?

there shouldnt have been a mid season break in the first place, and have played the couple of midweek games in the these timeslots instead. Better gates on the usual nights (and not midweek with attendances that are down more than 50%) would have brought in that bit of extra cash for all clubs concerned.
Agreed. No need for midweek fixtures at all. The close season is awful long as well, almost 4 months for all clubs (except those in the cup final) The season could easily be extended, and it would probably suit all concerned.
However, if the mid-season break is such a bother, why have the clubs not objected to it? If enough of them had done so, surely it would have been scrapped by now?
