Is "piratemousey" annoying or what!

hes trying to get more eircom leaguers back bacause even he knows that the eircom league fan is comlpleatly disinfranchised with the national representnives of our country which began in the eighties.
thats valiant and all, but please...........
dont try and hoodwink me
Even if the average EL fan is disenfranchised, which could be understood, I believe Kerr's (and Rooney for that matter) attempts to get us back should not be looked at so cynically, especially given their roots within Irish Football.
As it was you that mentioned the eighties, I believe the tactics that the FAI adopted while Charlton was manager were awful, we neglected home grown talent to scour the planet for Irish Wolfhound owners. In the long run however, the success of that team has given us a crop of young Irish players who've pushed themselved harder because a WC or EC finals is no longer a pipe dream.
If you felt disenfranchised then, don't take it out on the current crop of players. We haven't had a team or squad with so many Irish-born players since the Eoin Hand era, and as mentioned in another thread only 3 of the current U21 squad were not born in Ireland.
If the squad isn't made up of EL players, even with the presence of a former EL manager, it's only because those players who ply their trade abroad play at a higher standard, which benefits the national team. If we wany EL players on the national side, it's the EL which has to improve. I don't want any more empty gestures to EL players, I'd sooner they were good enough.
But to use Charlton as an excuse to never support the Irish team, not reason enough. I couldn't stand anything about him, but it didn't stop me supporting the team.

Have Boot Disk, will travel
soccercentral.ieRepublic of Ireland manager Brian Kerr has urged Ireland fans to get behind the Boys in Green ahead of his sides' game with World Champions Brazil at Lansdowne Road on Wednesday.
“It’s an attractive fixture and it will be a special night, let’s have an atmosphere for the game,” Kerr said, and he can be assured that the 1000 eircom League club supporters on the North Terrace won't let him down, particularly when it comes to singing and providing atmosphere.
Each member of the eircom League fans army will sport a specially commissioned green and white white scarf with the wording, "Our Clubs - Our Country" emblazoned in upon them.
Kerr added “I hope the fans give us a lot of support. Don’t just come to admire the Brazilians and respect them. That can be done after the game."
“I want the players to do well, to be inspired by the occasion and to go out and win the game. We will not be going out to contain them. I don’t remember an Ireland team ever trying to contain a team in Dublin, the fans wouldn’t put up with it.”

Are you really you or are you an imposter cleverly disgusied as you ?? Well .... are you ??
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
I dunno was it Eanna, coud have been a force from above???
If at first you don't succeed, redefine success.
