    So many...
    George Best for aftershave
    Jack Charlton for Shredded Wheat
    Jack Charlton for car insurance
I think there was one with Bobby Moore advertising going for a drink in the local, might have been someone else

Ignore Max Power, he is no more, the future is Ron Burgundy. I'd love to be Ron Burgundy but they won't let me........

But Michael Owens Shreddies is my (least)favourite

but there's been some great ones.......

the brazilian team in the airport
    the physio sport ads
the reebok series where they showed ryan giggs selling daffodils and Schmeichel as a pig farmer

I'm showing my age here, but positively the worst advert I've ever seen involving a footballer was shown in the UK in the late 1970s. It had Kevin Keegan and Henry Cooper (the boxer) in the locker room together, bare-chested, splashing on Brut aftershave. Homo-eroticism or what?

Seconded closely by the bare-chested John Barnes, bare-chested and dripping with sweat, pushing the benefits of Lucozade Isotonic. Mrs PP loved it. I didn't see it in quite the same light for some strange reason.

I seem to remember another one of Pat Jenning dressed as some part of a car saving penos. Something like "Joe's Car Parts, as safe as his hands"

not a tv ad, but the radio ad for Waterford council with John O'Shea coming on in a big thick bogger accent saying "Ah shure Waaherford is great, the shops are better than Manchester" in a voice not unlike William. Shatner. And. His. infuriating. delivery. of. lines.

    There's something on the wing
Whatever it was I am sure it was better than my plan to get out of this by pretending to be mad. I mean, who would have noticed another madman around here?

Good old Del Amitri. Saw the video for one of their other biggish hits as well last week ('Roll To Me' I think?) where the boys heads had been superimposed onto babies in buggies. Quite nasty looking really!
The ball is round and has many surprises.

Hard to believe Keano of all people signed up for that one... worst ones, Jack Charlton, (nearly all of them!) what was the one with the catchphrase, "Shake a shamrock for Ireland"?
Alan Shearer, McDonalds, Gascoigne and his Brute ads, Beckham and Wilkinson in the adidas ad, THe Pizza Hut ads with Stuart Pearce, Chris Waddle, the guys who missed penalites in world cups.... the best one though, the Nike Brazil ad in the airport!! pure class....and not a footballer ad, but the John Smith ads with Peter Kay blasting the ball is great!

pele's viagra ads are a bit of a low point if you ask me. he should knock them on the head. john o'sheas waterford one sounds bad alright though.

from a good point of view, the one with cantona, figo etc on the ship was pretty good.

The Nike cage matches? Liked them. I reckon they'd catch on too if you marketed them right.

I don't mind the Wilkinson/Beckham ads, or even the Keane Walkers ad. Haven't eaten a Walkers crisp since though.

Jack Charlton's car insurace ad was really cringe-worthy though.

Wasn't Jason McAteer in a Wash 'n Go ad or something like that?
It was rubbish if I remember correctly.
Didn't there used to be some Galway GAA "star" in an ad for mastitis medicine?

If i remember correctly, they didn't even give trigger any lines to memorise.
    Awful.

    As for good ads...
Peter Schmiechel as a pig farmer was brilliant. Loved that one.

Still have a soft spot for Jason's Carlsberg World Cup dream ad though, changing the footage of goals in the qualifying series in Dream Team kinda way to make it look like we beat Spain, Argentina and Brazil in the final!
