    US Open

just a quick note - what ye fancy?

Im going for Casey (22/1), he looks like he could do something in it this time, coming into it at the perfect time

Will back Rory (35/1) ,Harrington (40/1), Mcdowell (80/1) just for a patriotic punt

Also going for Angel Cabrera (66/1) - this is the kind of course that suits him and if he is feeling good then he is worth a punt
    Zach Johnson at 55/1
    and Todd hamilton at 400/1

by the way I know that PP prices are rubbish - but its the only bookie im with online -

Woods is in very good form at the moment so will probably just look at the market without him.

Yep, Casey's my main man aswell. Need him to do well for my golf masters team aswell

Will also be backing Zach Johnson like yourself but don't know what you are at backing harrington, and also mcilroy (at 35s anyway). Mcdowell might have a chance at a top5 finish but at 80/1 his odds aren't particularly enticing. He did do well last week but it was a very poor field.

    Will also back:

Poulter (66/1) - Is the biggest **** ever. Hopefully he wins me some money though! Came second in the players and had a top10 at the crown plaza iirc so is in nice form. Will probably do crap but phuket.

O'Hair (50/1) - Relly like his game. Although since winning at Quail Hollow he's had a few mixed outings, hopefully he can bring his A game to Bethpage.

Toms(66/1) - Most accurate driver on the pgatour this year which will come in handy with the narrow fairways and penal rough. Although, like poulter and Toms, he isn't the biggest hitter.

Harrington to miss the cut at 7/4 ain't bad but I won't bother doing it, don't wanna be shouting against him

Hard to look past woods. His driving at the Memorial was fantastic (most fairways hit in a tourny in about 6 years) which spells trouble for the rest of the field. Tiger to win by 1 shot at 8/1 or by 2 shots at 12/1 doesn't look too bad.

Also jeev milkha singh to make the cut at 9/2.

    .
im backing them for the interest in it, just to follow the irish!
having said that - that bet about Harringtown missing the cut isnt bad

actually Toms looks a good bet, he hasnt had a bad season so far, and will def be there or there abouts in the end

Dont think woods is worht backing at such small odds, but people do gamble despite this

Sad to say but that looks a great bet, 7/4 considering his form at the moment. I have no problem betting against Ireland/Irish interests, in fact I do it as a matter of course. My philospohy is if Ireland win I don't ccare about the money if they lose I have some winnings to drown my sorrows, I lost 50 STG on Holland when Trigger scored the famous goal , I kept the slip for about 2 years afterwards, the best 50 quid I ever lost

Would you believe he's 66/1 in Ladbrokes! Massive difference. I threw a fiver win on him just in case. My main bet is Stenson at 66 as well, thought it was very good value relative to someone like Casey (who on a personal level I really hope doesn't win, can't stand him.)

I've gone for a few of the outsiders for each-way top8 in the local bookies as well, two of the players already mentioned: Ben Curtis and the Milka Man at 100 and 125 respectively. Also have Andres Romero at 150 and one complete outsider at 300/1 who's out of form but likes tough courses, the one and only, beautifully named, Brandt Snedeker.

Overall, I've gone for a mixture of long-hitters with very high ball flight (Romero, Stenson, McIlroy) and the steadier grinders like Singh and Curtis, so hopefully I'll get some run for my money. Should be a great tournament though, the hype around Tiger might annoy some but it definitely adds a lot to the excitement and intrigue of the year's second major. It's great to have four Irish playing as well. God only knows how Harrington will play (though I'm not sure even God could know!), I'd expect McIlroy and McDowell to do pretty well, and Clarke you couldn't be sure about either but I hope he acquits himself well - he need only look at his playing partner today (Toms) for an example of a fella who has really come back from poor form, though Clarke may get jittery if he thinks about the other player in the group - David Duval!

Latest weather update doesn't sound good (well, for the shorter hitters anyway): "Windy with rain likely. High near 65F (18c). Winds SSE at 20 to 30 mph. Rainfall may reach one inch."

Did a bit of reading and having looked at the PGA Tour Stats my fancies would be Paul Casey and David Toms (as others have mentioned), and Boo Weekly. All three are long, accurate hitters and have decent putting stats, all of which will be required.

Has anyone got odds for Weekly? Can't access betting sites in work, thinking of having a fun couple of Euro each way on him.

What's the closest bookies to you? (no point annoying you by giving better odds for somewhere you can't reach at lunch-time. )

Paddy Power is closest, Boyles is do-able, not sure about Ladbrokes, I think there might be a near enough one.

    Paddy's - 125/1
    Bolyes - 150/1
    Ladbrokes - 150/1

I think all were doing 1/4 top6, but play is just getting going around now so it might be down to top5 when you get there, or it might not be. Best of luck.
