    Cork City are pish

I can't believe all you muppets waste your time on a Sunday afternoon watching 22 donkeys kicking lumps out of each other.
For heavens sake,if god had wanted football to be played in the air,he'd have put grass in the clouds.

I live in Turners Cross, yet would i even dream of going to a game?no chance, not even if they paid me to go in.

Are Morley and Caulfield still playing?Says it all really, sub standard,players/team/league.

You should support a proper Irish team like Celtic.

Get a life Tom, the scotish league is no better than the EL. And the only reason Celtic have a large fan base is because of the Catholic and Protestant rivalry between them and Rangers. If it wasn't for that Celtic would have very few Irish fans. With a bit of money and publicity the EL could become a lot more popular.

If you are not a fan of the EL what are you doing here then reading all our dicussions on the league? Surely you're in the wrong place. You should be a support-a-Scottish-club-for-no- reason.com

    Censorship-You cant handle the truth

Oh yeah, cheers for closing the thread without giving me the chance to reply .........to the last few little rants.

First of all ..to those of you... that said...i should **** off elsewhere........thats the sort of response i'd expect from a nazi.

Just because i regard the eircom league as sub standard(which it undoubtedly is)doesnt mean to say i cant engage in meaningful discussions, debates&banter on the matter.

If you could take off the rose tinted specs for a minute you would soon realise that this is not a windup......merely a bit of constructive crticism.

Furthermore to the guys going on about catholic/prod rivalry as regards Celtic/Rangers......again youre talking out of your rear end.
I'm actually athiest...therefore have no interest in religion.

I support Celtic....because basically they are an Irish club playing in Scotland(soon to be England). If any of yous have actually been outside of Cork(which i doubt).....and made the journey to the East End of Glasgow...you would soon realise this. There are Irish tri colours all over Celtic Park.....and not a single Scottish one in sight.....and we (all 60,000 of us)sing our Irish/Republican songs from the first until the 90th minute.

But no...you cant fathom this can you?You would rather go down the cross every Sunday, and watch a pub team, hoofing the ball from one end to the other, along with the other 300/400 die hards that usually are conned into going there.

I personally believe that the league should be scrapped....as there are no decent players playing in it.I mean...all the decent players have been poached by English clubs.....so basically all you are left with is....a bunch of English rejects....and those that were never good enough to play across the water in the first place. What's the point in paying to watch that tripe????????

I've also noticed from a few of the other threads....that a few of the other clubs have had a go at you for singing Republican/IRA songs.........don't make me laugh!

    Unlocked and merged...

Ok, I've unlocked and merged the two threads since you seem so upset about this, but let me make this quite clear: The fact that you went to the trouble of signing up on this board just to slag off Irish soccer is frankly astounding, and leads me to believe that your first post was a troll, plain and simple. So yes, you have a right to express yourself, but if you step out of line just once, I'll lock it again and delete your account. If you don't like that, tough, I administer the site and arguing with me won't achieve anything. Don't say you haven't been warned.

    Question Reasoned debate?

Since this doesn't seem a windup plus a bit of free time here i'll have go first.

I do accept the eL is sub standard compared to many foreign leagues but does that mean I shouldn't attend or watch it? Thge SPL is inferior to the english Premiership & thats inferior to the Spanish liga so does that mean we should all watch spanish football on tv? The eL may not be anywhere near the best but it is the only senior Irish football league!

IMo the Glasgow $eltic - Rangers rivalry is amoung the most bigotted in the world. I didn't see it myself (as don't watch $eltic on tv) but apparently some Celtic fan made airplane gestures to Rangers american player Reyna when he was taking a corner. That is just plain sick & shows the deep rooted hatred that "the old firm" propogates.

I support Celtic....because basically they are an Irish club playing in Scotland
Why not Hibernian then? I hear they set up by irish as well i think? Explain to me how an irish club can play in scotland?

and we (all 60,000 of us)sing our Irish/Republican songs from the first until the 90th minute.
And you tried to suggest not political or bigotted?

and those that were never good enough to play across the water in the first place. What's the point in paying to watch that tripe??????
And sure Celtic aren't a team of english rejects either? They're all too good for england aren't they?

    Talking ignorance is bliss

    He's right lads,
His fantastic in-depth incisive comments have really struck a chord with me.
I'm off in town to subscribe to Sky Sports, join the IRA, buy my celtic/hibs/panathanaikos jerseys, give up my religion, start speaking scottish (pish) and follow in the footsteps of tom barry.

Tom, everyone has their interests. How can you comment on something you have no knowledge of? the standard isnt great, but every now and again the matches are crackers. If you went to the rovers match last week, you would have seen a game of great football. the fact that the team is from cork makes it alot more enjoyable to watch than a bunch of foreigners playing for a plc.

If Celtic are an Irish team, how come there werent any paddies playing last sunday for them?

I could keep going all day

The funny thing is how many times have people said Celtic are Irish? They are not. They are registered as a Scotish club. There is not one Irish player in the first team and they play in the SPL. They are not Irish...

Agreed. But the amount of idiots who support them here is unbelievable. It's a pity that we as a nation are still just an island off Britain....
