Liam Delap scored a hat trick in a preseason game for Man City U18's. Here's one of them
Also, Joe Hodge captained the team.

    Quick question

If Rory qualified via grandparent ( i don't know his background, but hypotactically, does his young fella actually qualify for us? as it would be his great grandparent

According to his wiki page, both his parents are Irish: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rory_D...d_charity_work
Rory's father is John Delap from Letterkenny and his mother Maura Delap from Kells

Putting rory aside. Let's say david mcgoldrick, who qualified through the grandparent rule. Would mcgoldrick son qualify for us?

Reports suggesting / saying he was approached by SK though Charles.

His son wouldn't no. Not unless he happened to be born here.

Baraclough speaks on Sykes. I find this terribly entertaining.

They're always going to lose players when they're waving Union Jacks, abusing Catholics and the players have to stand to GSTQ every time they play.

The set up is geared towards unionists and they're getting what they deserve. It'd be great if they acted like Northern Ireland and not the Great British D team.

I could imagine he may have gotten a passport at some point. Does that 'reset' the whole thing?

Yep that's the question. Does it reset or not

If the son was born after McGoldrick activated his Irish citizenship, then yes.

As long as McGoldrick got his Irish citizenship before his son was born, his son could also become an Irish citizen and this could continue down the generations.

However the rules for international football are different, you can't go past grandparents. None of McGoldrick's kids can ever play for Ireland under the current rules.

That is interesting, because you could technically have the situation where the Irish citizens abroad have Irish citizen children who in turn have Irish citizen children. Let's say they live in a country that doesn't automatically confer citizenship by birth (the Netherlands for example) and they never bothered to become naturalised Dutch citizens, because it was too much hassle and they still identified as Irish. Would FIFA force the youngest generation to play for the Netherlands, a country that they are not a citizen of?

Obviously a very edge case scenario I'm offering here, but interesting nonetheless.

My issue with Kerr was he had personal beliefs that it would be best for northern nationalists to play for the north which is fair enough but his beliefs shouldn't come into it as his job was to bring the best players possible available to Ireland on board and that should always involve actively seeking out northern players who will want to represent us and welcome them into the fold

Pretty stupid for a manager not to be actively encouraging good players or even potentially good players to play for the team he was managing !

Brian Kerr was not the smartest manager in the Dug-Out ! !

I know Kerr's father (and mother?) Was from Belfast. I remember him telling a story around Euro 2016 regarding Michael McGovern and how McGovern reached out to him about switching and playing for us. Kerr dissuaded from doing so, citing the players in and around his age and a few goalies that would be around for a while like Shay Given.
