The consensus on YBIG is that he is committed to Wales, though I can't remember what info was used to back this up. Certainly a player that we should be looking at. Can someone who uses twitter or face book ( not me), ask his old man what the story is.
I think he might have been invited to train with the Wales Euros bound squad pre tournament, but worth asking the question surely.
I remember seeing his father play once, when a small non league team near me went deep into the FA Trophy, maybe 04/05 season. It was one of the bigger games in the clubs history with 1000+ watching where 200 or so usually would and on a pitch you wouldn't walk a dog on. Awful game quality wise but very exciting too as the locals really put it up to the pro's on that pitch and it stayed 0-0 until very late, maybe even into time added on. Then Ampadu got his one sight he was waiting for all day, he had not even had the ball anywhere in a shooting position till then and he curled it from the edge of the area, around the dive, waist high & hit the stanchion. The one real flash of quality all game & job done.
Now that's a left-field referential anecdote if there ever was one.

Marcus Harness from Burton Albion is eligible and very interested in playing for us. He's a good pal of Cyrus Christie so I'd imagine the FAI are aware of him. He's playing championship football now with O'Reilly and McCrory so depending how he gets on this season he may be worth a look. Young fast player with an eye for goal.
