    Designing newsletter

I will be designing and editing a newsletter from May.

Looking for advice / suggestions as to what to use (not MS Word)

Quark Express was suggested to me.

Anyone know of / use anything else?

For doing the UCD programme, fanzine and Supporters' Club newsletter, I use Powerpoint. It's far superior to Word because it doesn't second-guess what you want to do every time. You can insert text-boxes, move them around, insert pictures, etc.

If you want, PM me your e-mail and I'll send on one of our newsletters to show what can be done with it. It mightn't suit what you want to do, but it's an option.

I do the Forza Drogs fanzine and did our Supporters club first newsletter and I found the MS Publisher is brilliant for using it. I never knew how to use it before but after a couple of days playing around with it, the functions are pretty easy to follow.

Like Powerpoint you can put in text boxes, as well if you have pics you can change the outline of the pics as sometimes when you scan them into your PC the edges might not be straight.

    Good luck with it anyway

Isn't that a pretty expensive piece of kit - like €3,000 or something? Very good though, from what little I've seen of it.

Quark Xpress is the God of all publishing packages, i work as typesetter in a newspaper and it kicks a r s e! Word stinks like a rotten cabbage, i wouldnt recommend doing anything in it.. Quark is very expensive though, youd need to get a copy of it on pc if you know anyone who has it.... Adobe InDesign and Publisher arent bad, and its a lot cheaper too...
