Good to see him getting into the first-team squad, even if it was only for an FA Cup cameo. After more than 300 appearances for Championship teams, this was his first appearance for a Premier League team - let's hope he makes his first actual Premier League appearance soon.

Michael O'Neill to approach Scannell to declare for the North, again: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/i...nell-qrckk3sdb

Some sites are saying it's a done deal, but this quote from Scannell's agent in the article above says otherwise
“There is genuine interest there but nothing has been confirmed as yet about Sean playing for Northern Ireland. I’m sure that Sean will look forward to having a conversation (with Michael O’Neill) when the time is right.”

Scannell's out with a shoulder injury at the moment, and according to physioroom.com, he won't be available until March 30th, which is six days after the North's next game - a friendly against South Korea.
So, even if he's not named in the squad, this could drag on until their next game in May.

Good luck to him if he wants to play for them. He wouldn’t be a serious feature for us I don’t think. Why shouldn’t he get some international football for an Irish international team.

Scannell has been injured for a couple of months now hasn't he? Or is he back playing again?

He'll recover from that. A red hand, now, that's a whole nuther story.
Hello, hello? What's going on? What's all this shouting, we'll have no trouble here!

If he does decide to switch, it'll take a few months.

Scannell talks to a group of young footballers about how the choices they make now will affect their entire careers. Mentions the amount of injuries he's had, and that his current ankle injury might end his career

Scannell (father from Co. Armagh) has been blighted by injuries since Jan 2018 and has made only 54 first team appearances (3 goals) since then, for Bradford City, Blackpool and most recently Grimsby Town (EFL 2). His contract will not be renewed when it expires on 30 June. Scannell, now 32, was capped by Ireland at U-17, U-18, U-19, U-21 and B level.
