But, moscow wasnt always considered Europe. For example if you are from Western Russia, and you live in Asia, but play football for Russia, you play in UEFA despite not being from Europe was more my point. They could play in Asia just as easily as Europe.
Im not sure you were joking but anyway, if your from western Russia then politically you are from Europe. Political borders determine where a country is more so than geography. Hence Alaska is a US State and not a province of Canada. Whether your from St. Petersburg or Magadan youre from Russia.

Tomorrows lesson will be on maths.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

I'm hoping this "Aviva" nonsense doesn't catch on and we still call it Lansdowne

Why you so attached to the road the ground was on?

Oh and the UEFA 5 star grounds thingy is gone. UEFA now rank grounds Category 1, 2, 3 or Elite

Wiki gives you the basic of an "Elite" stadium

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Stadia_List

    UEFA.com gives the details

I'm not, just opposed to people acting like sheep and calling something by the sponsor's name. I like the link with past stories, glories and failures!

35 years of history? (and yeah I know we played there earlier but its really only 35 years as a regular ground)

Nothing sheeplike at all in calling a ground by its name.

Exactly what I was thinking. Think people get too hung up on sentiments and in Lansdownes case there's not that much to be sentimental about. It was a rubbish stadium anyway and the less links we have to it the better in my opinion. Some good times obviously but if we played our home games in a caravan park for 35 yrs I'm sure we'd have some fond memories from there too. Aviva is fine by me.

I'd be more opposed to the idea of naming grounds after large face-less corporations, not for me. I'm sure that those evil capitalists would love it if they could spread their message at every juncture. It'll remain Lansdowne to me but to each their own.
And you ask me to help you??!! Man is evil!!!! Capable of nothing but destruction!

As opposed to what Lansdowne Road was named after?

I suppose it depends on which of the two is the lesser case of prostitution. Naming something after a person seems more innocuous than the naming after a company. For better or worse, Landsdowne has a historical link with this country (judging by that provided link & hell, every facet of our modern nation is defined by those times, not least the language we're debating in), so I have no problem with the roots of the old stadium's name. "Aviva" on the other hand means nothing.

    Subsidiary titles: Earl of Kerry (created 1723 in the Peerage of Ireland);

    Aviva it is so!!

Any association with Kerry should be erased from memory.
