I missed another LoI vs. RoI game, the Eoin Hand testimonial at Tolka Park on September 2nd 1997. Mick's boys dried their eyes over Princess Diana's death long enough to win 3-0 (Keane, Kennedy, Cascarino.)

We played the Irish League in Oriel in 1989/1990, do you happen to know the score? I think we won, all I can really remember of that game is that Alan O'Neill was in goals and, coincidentally, one of the Irish League players suffered (accidental) togs failure.

I'd be interested in the spare programme Leo - it's one of the few recent inter-leagues that I'm missing.

I am actually trying to record all representative games that Derry City players played in - as I am a big Derry City fan - my list is about 50% complete - but if you know of any appearance by Derry City players that would be very helpful too.

First game under lights at lansdowne iirc, I went with a busload of Liverpool fans, they kept asking why I was supporting the league of Ireland side, "eh because I'm Irish?"
Only thing I remember from it was Billy Woods played left back and looked a class above anything on both sides

Are you looking at City players in representatuive games from our Irish League days as well ? Let me know, as I've got a load of programmes form those games so could dig the info out.

I seem to remember being at a LoI vs Irish league game in Richmond maybe early 90's. Think Billy Woods was great that night also. Although I maybe mistaken. Its a bit of a blur.

A League of Ireland team played a mexican team in Los Angeles in 1988. Jim McLoughlin was the manager and I'd be surprised if there wasn't a player or two from Derry on that squad. I was at the game but i can't find any reference to it on the web after (admittedly) only a small bit of digging. The Mexican team won the game as far as i can remember.

Donald Shearer would have played for Irish League XIs as well as for Great Britain at the 1936 Olympics.

Probably an obvious one but Liam Coyle and Owen DaGama (?) in the George Best testimonial in Windsor Park.
