Haven't seen Prof Frink around here in a while but,now that we know where we're playing and we don't want a repeat of last campaign's morgue like atmosphere,
do yous want to take any action on the forming of a vocal supporters group in the south terrace?

According to Fran Rooney we are only allowed to play in Lansdown Road if the government (or someone with the money to do it) was a serious plan in place to build a stadium. At present as far as FIFA are concerned there is NO plan in place.
PS i've been off trying to get volunters. I have 20 names - but i reckon not all of them are serious. We still need more.
Right Brazil is the first match. We need people who are interested to get tickets for the south terrace. Meet up in a pub before hand, a couple of pints to get us going?
Any ideas for chants new/old?
I know this is obvious but everyone needs an rep. of ireland jersey.

I think the thing about the net is that everyone can remain anonymous,so should we just decide that whoevers up for it to gather at a certain part of the south? Preferably sufficiently intoxified to sing themselves stupid for the match duration.
I've got about 4 but could get some more(but reluctant cos they're part timers and thats not what we want).That's not enough for any real noise I'm afraid

Any effective supporter group needs a large drum,I think my brother should be able to sort that out,but the more bodhrans,drums and other loud paraphenalia the better.
If there's any more that's required,suggestions would be appreciated.
We'll need a few more tunes than the hackneyed regulars.Possibly we could use irish ballads (no sectarian/IRA elements) e.g Big Strong Man,A Nation once Again,God Save Ireland,The Wearing of the Green(particularly appropriate) ,Whiskey in the Jar,Dublin in the Rare ould Times(Up the Dubs
),Botany Bay,The Wild Rover,Galway Races etc etc.
Anyway there's plenty of time for further recruiting.But many aren't fortunate enough to have net access so how's about a Herald Ad or the likes?

every week the herald donates a page to the various football supporters clubs based about Dubin (on thurs i think), if you ring in your add by close of business monday it'll be featured (for free AFAIK).Originally posted by Beavis

i've found the craic better at friendly game's then at competative game's i think this is mostly due to the fact that coporate Ireland take's no intrest and that most of the tickets go to football fan's and not to bank's, golf club's and major national company's.
I think it's a good idea to get people organised and ready to turn the south terrace back to the bouncing sea of green and the deafening noise that used to be there before bucket seat's and fan's in suit's with personality bypass's appeared at lansdowne.
I agree that everone should turn out in green but i think that for every home game. i also think that the public adress guy at lansdowne with his tina turner c'd s and other rubbish should take a night off and leave it to someone who can help get the crowd going, for example when we were in germany for the friendly in 94 the d j was playing non stop pogues tune's and the crowd was going mad.
but back to the story yea i think that every one should be made aware that if yer going to be on the south terrace for the brazil and cezch game's bring yer singing voice's and leave the golf club's at home, see yer all somewhere at back of the south terace on feb 18, obrigado senhor's

5. Where can I get the mother of all air-horns - one that would deafen the guys on the north when i use it on the south.

and prob should leave a contact number so that if we decide on any modifications between now and the first game that anyone interested could be notified ie take the numbers and send a text to them if necessary.

1. To attract attention I'd call it 'Vocal Irish' as opposed to Foot.ie fans. It might be an idea to put a contact email address or to put a meeting place before the game at least.
3. Good idea, even EL boys could use another few ideas, a hymnsheet wouldn't be a bad idea either.
meeting up in a watering hole before hand is a good idea as you get to know the lads, have a couple of swifties and exercise the vocals.... also if you mention where the meeting point is in the add...

10,000 tickets for the terraces go on sale on Febuary 5th(Tuesday) from ticket master.ie and outlets,so if your joining us make sure to get yourself sorted.[E60 for the 3 friendlies]

Lenwoods on the LOng Mile Road D12 is supposed to be good for those sort of things . A friend of mine used to work there and said they stocked Air Horns and the like.
Feel a bit helpless about the air horn's issue, plenty of place's over here in Laaandaaan that sell them, but in the present climate trying to take one of those air horn's through Stansted airport on the 17th, (night before game) might mean not only would i miss the Brazil game but might miss a few week's off work, you know what their like here, just found out that my ticket's will be in the usual east stand, will be losing my head up there like nornal, and wish you all the best in getting some real life going on the south terrace.
Its crazy to see people be what society wants them to be but not me.

That's probably enough for a match situation,sing the Chorus a few times over and that'd be fine.It's a good tune for a match ,we usually sing it in pubs so there's no reason not to sing it on the terrace too.
