    News Update

    Hi guys:

Spoke to JP this morning and the news is:

    1..Pike for next season

2..Mike Kerly is 90% ceratin of signing only a few small things to be sorted.

3.. Pre season Training starting next monday

4..Two players dodgy for next year at the moment..Stevo and Sweens. Rumour of Aberdeen & Cork being interested in Stevo.
    Not sure about Keatso.

5..Both UL and another College (US Alan Cosh involved) want to tie up with Limerick in some way.

6... Public meeting either next week or week after.

7...Fixtures in reverse this year if 22 club league is not backed. ie Whoever we were away twice last year we are now at home twice and vice versa.

8...Can we all E-mail the eircom league and post in other forums to try and get backing for the Devlin 22 League plan? It's in our best interests big style.

Cant wait already for the season

    Anyone any other news ?

Long term Schmong Term. We need a ground. We don't have access to or else can't afford the Jacks, MF, Thomond Park etc. The funds coming in to the club will help put us on a solid footing. Then maybe we can think about long-term ground prospects etc.

There was lot of good news in that post by JohnD. whey do we always have to pick up on the negative. I guess it is the way of teh football fan...

I couldn't in good conscience advocate the 22 team league though, I think it's an awful idea.

Would like to see us link up with UL/Aisling though, maybe they could function as our U-21 team?

Also why is Sweeney dodgy? Who's sniffing around? Cork City I presume but anyone else?

In favour of a 22 team league but only out of naked self interest.

Why not go back to Rathbane? There must be a way of sorting out the mess there.

    Rathbane

Isnt ours but i believe a bid of 100,000 euro would secure it for us. whats the SC balance. A link up with UL would be a step in the right direction. we could do with their managerial expertise. Even though Sweeney and O'Flynn are out of contract we are entitled to fees for both as both are under 24 under EUFA rules. i still want that commercial managers job though, dunnes sucks

    Rathbane??

What happened there in the first place - why were the club forced to leave Rathbane? I've heard a few very different stories about why they left, but anyone know the real story?

buy the book 'Family Feud', issued over crimbo by ex-Limerick Leader hack Anthony Galvin. Theres a very interesting para or 2 about an Alderman, a priest and 30,000 missing old irish pounds....that might shed a little light.

And in the interest of fairness I'll reveal here that the Alderman implies that the Priest might not be whiter than white in the whole issue. Still nobodies explained why we can't go back though. Or even why we left in the first place really. Not to me anyway. Which hurts.

As of yet nobody has been signed up for next season. Not just talking about new players either, I mean anybody. At least two of our players haven't even been approached yet (as of yesterday anyway).
