I am all relaxed at the moment but all this could change come the day . OC will have everything under control just you watch .

Blake's had a real Indian summer this year, as has Graeme Alexander- they must be knackered after all the cup games. Good luck- I remember being at the assoc members cup back in 1987 or 1988 against Wolves, the Burnley support was huge.

Sure, I'm touchy when it comes to defending my team. But tbh, there's not a hell of a sight to be gained by my defending them on an NI forum, where everyone else is pretty much agreed.

Far better, imo, to try to disabuse the fans of the team which threatens us, to one degree or another, of some of the misconceptions and myths which some of them (ROI fans) seem to hold about us.
I am 100% sure they would if the could poach their better players. Its club football after all.

EG, I enjoy your posts, even though they are awash with negative sentiment and inverted snobbery(maybe even vitriol) towards the Republic Of Ireland, but I think outside debate should always be welcomed.

Those two posts must be the ultimate paradox or else serious irony.

Its in line with the person from Hull and the person from Middlesboro fighting over who is from the better sh1thole!

Our respective associations could just organise a "friendly" and let the teams to the talking on the pitch.

    Just a thought.

That number is all the more baffling when his profile states he only has 350 posts.

We'll give him the benefit of the doubt though as possibly he has another 450 on his other account.

Thanks for that, although there shouldn't be any doubt nor bafflement- as I mentioned above (in direct answer to you, actually), I had a previous account, opened in 2003. When there were rather fewer NI supporting posters, but just as many threads going off on the same tangent as this one.

I wholeheartedly agree. I dont often agree with what EG, GR et al post, but their different perspective is respected and welcomed imo. Plus some people get awful worked up on this site if a thread doesnt stick wholeheartedly to the narrow remit of the title thread.

If everyone on here had the same opinion it would be boring, I personally welcome the views of our peers from the occupied 6!!!!

    EG "different perspective"?

    I'm tempted,
but I'll just tighten the chain an extra notch.

In common with Trap, I see Owen insists on his players having a positive attitude around the place, maybe that's one of the good reasons he couldn't wait to cash in on Lafferty.

As seemingly the only Blade on here(only just seen the thread) I think a bit of defending the old team is called for.

My view is much like ourselves 6 years ago all them cup matches are gonna catch up with & correct me if i'm wrong Burnley don't have a big squad(22-23??) so unless they score a few early it will be a tight game(as always is between us 2) & end up 2-1. Gonna have to say to the Blades but with our play-off final history I'm to wise now to make such bold statements as to say we'll trounch you lot but I do think our luck has to change some time(hopefully)

P.S. Ward will be lucky to play - touch & go with his injury & even then I doubt he'll make the squad as others are returning from injury. But you can marvel at S.Quinn run round like a headless chicken allday then pop up with 1 piece of genius to change the match.

Me too, but not when there are deliberate and petty attempts to wind up & that's exactly what EG's first or second post on this thread was there for.

It's funny that out of all the live threads on all the various current topics EG decided only to post a comment relating to a Scots born & bred Irish international. I think some people here jump down EG's throat for the sake of it at times but on this ocacsion his contribution was 100% negative and he didn't have the good grace to accept the pretty well informed replies that followed.

Now if he'd had a swipe if the topic was Bernie Slaven he may have had more of a point (or may not, I know f all about Slaven's heritage).

I personally would of preferred if he maybe focused on one of Northern Irelands more recent Scotish born & bred internationals rather than chosing to have a go at an individual as proud and aware of his heritage as Owen Coyle appears to be.......for instance Brian McLean....how did that pan out again EG??????

Back on topic though am very much looking forward to this game, as a neutral play off finals always tend to be quare entertaining...I reckon Burnley to nick it 2-1

So Phill are you heading to the game at Wembley then ??????
Yep you are right about scoring first but that fails to worry me as the last time we failed to score was 21 games ago at Watford "cue Hornet " so we will score at some stage of the game . Like I said Blake holds the key for us but we are very slow at the back and the two full backs are way off the pace if United take around the back they will have luck , now if they stick to hoofball and long throws Burnley will see out the game . Can't wait hey it's been 33 years since Burnley have been back in the big time I think now is the time . Ihope anyway .

One last thing whatever the score is at Wembley we will have a laugh and a joke in the airport as we are both on the same flight out to Bulgaria , only this time we will both have the same colours on .......................
