In fairness, the ten points they were deducted cost them European and Setanta spots, which would be worth a few quid.

No. If a winding up order is issued, they're gone. The only thing the FAI could do is facilitate a new Cork club.

This is Cork City II. I'm sure they can recycle one of the others if they like.

Cork City III, I think. One in the 1938-39, and they went bust in 1994 too.

I reckon the cork name debate has come up at least 6 times in this thread, and countless other times too.

    what about Langers or Revenue.

Sincerely hope Cork can pull through but this has gone on way too long and something needs to be done to tell the rest of the clubs out there that this madness can't go on

That would be the best and most logical approach of action that should be taken. Keeping CCFC alive is the equivalent of flogging a dead horse at this stage. Say the Revenue accept the €163K, what then? How will the pay the players for the end of the month? How will they pay the Revenue for the rest of the outstanding taxes owed to them. CCFC will be back to owing €400k again in no time. Of course Cork should not have been in this position had they traded responsibly and cut their costs accordingly. However they chose to continue trading recklessly and spending money that they did not have.

Justice Laffoy should take the correct course of action and issue the liquidation proceedings on behalf of the Revenue. FORAS could then step in and set up a new Cork club in which the FAI would gladly facilitate them. Under no circumstances should CCFC be bailed out. There should be no reward for cheating and irresponsible trading.

Whatever the outcome the FAI will support football in Cork, so long as its not Cobh. Where was the help when they needed it? Which was somewhat unusual as they are also in Munster.

Unpalatable as it may be in the short term for Cork City supporters, the demise of the current regime is surely inevitable. Perhaps the most significant impact of any court ruling today is whether the new Cork phoenix starts from the A Championship or retains the current Cork City premier spot. If the club could comehow limp to seasons-end perhaps the latter would be more feasible.

You're right we've had enough chances.
The problem being Coughlan and his inability to run a club properly. He has to go. Otherwise it'll be same old story next month.

i'm not hopeful, 25 years down the tubes cos Tommy is a shyster.

Someone has to be held accountable for letting Coughlan take over. I've no love lost for Cork and firmly believe they should be wound up but the circumstances of which are terrible. Coughlan shouldn't have been alllowed near them.
