So that's Trap screwed then...
So that's Trap screwed then...
When was this?
Do tell...
And two central midfielders who got a wolf whistle from Trap when they ventured forward, two full backs rarely allowed past the half way line, and a team instructed to play en masse behind the ball without putting a tackle in. The full backs are the key. Attacking full backs change the dynamic of 442, or any shape, completely. Good teams attack as a unit. Under Trap we had a 4 man attacking unit -except from set pieces- and at least a 7 man defending unit
You can cite 442 all you want but we played cautiously throughout Trap's tenure.
I was only responding to the suggestion that Trap wasn't negative. That's how this bit of the thread started. I'd be all on for negativity again if it had positive results. I think the game has changed since 2008-10 though, and no doubt it will change again. Right now you need to be very good at playing negatively and I don't think that's our strength right now though? Owls Fan is indifferent to how we play as long as we qualify. I'd agree to an extent, but think it goes further: how you play is likely to determine how far you go. Relying on hoofball is unlikely to cut the mustard against anyone these days, not over the course of a ten game campaign. Playing higher tempo and pressing the ball is more likely to lead to a successful campaign.
But how invincible were they really? They only won one trophy that season, accumulated a fairly standard winning points total and lost six in all competitions. I realise this is completely beside the point though![]()
O'Neill has confirmed that Roy is in talks with Villa, no more news.
Sums it all up..

Keane rejected a move to Real Madrid to play for Celtic.
On a related note, is there any point buying the new book when virtually the entire thing has already been posted on the Irish Independent?

Alf-Inge Haaland hits back at Roy Keane with Saddam Hussein comparison
For a lad that demands such high standards, I think it's very unprofessional of him that it is this week that his book is being released and extracts published in the paper.
The timing of the book's publication only serves as a needless distraction in the run-up to two important games and it is a bit inconsiderate. In his (slim) defence, however, neither he nor the publishers had anything to do with the extracts being published early (as far as we know). The reason why pretty much the entire book has been made public before tomorrow's official release date is because a Tesco store in Burnage, Manchester erroneously made copies available for sale last Monday morning before realising their mistake and removing them from sale again. By that time though, a journalist had managed to get his hands on a copy, so it's not as if he was going to keep it a secret.
Maybe the leaking was a promotional gimmick; it has generated a huge amount of publicity, after all.
This kind of thing was inevitable with Keane's appointment. Wait until he starts clashing with players or having a go at fans or whatever. Then the media circus will really get going.
Author of Never Felt Better (History, Film Reviews).
what kind of thing?
there doesn't appear to be too much about Ireland in the book so I fail to see how a few stories about Keanes relationship with Alex Ferguson and how he still hates Alf Inge Halland has the slightest affect on the preparation for the upcoming games.
