Keano still wielding the axe, post-Garvan. I'm particularly interested in the case of McAuley, haven't followed it closely but I thought he would've been one of Town's main men (being their captain and all). Moreover I wonder how the NI fans (EGreen, Gather Round etc) feel about a mainstay in their national squad being sidelined by Keano?

Personally I think his 'confrontational' chopping of personnel appears a bit desperate at this point. It's surely a bit early in the season to be so rash but Keane's never been known for a considered point of view.

I was surprised at McAuley's treatment.

    Total garbage.
Me and most of my friends (bar one or two) were all in the Keane camp. All Dubs. First myth blown.
Some, like me, are Liverpool fans. Second myth blown.
One of my anti-Keane mates is a United fan. Third myth blown.

Why does Keane have to go public about players all the time.
If he just picked his team the players would have to get on with it. If Keane continued picking his team and had a few results then the players that were not in the team would get the message.

Very true. However the opposite did happen as well. I know of at least two people who had season tickets at Old Trafford but post-Saipan they both refused to go to see Manchester United again while Keane was there.

On the rights and wrongs itself I remember the whole thing blew up a few days before I left for Japan. My initial reaction was that Mick has completely mishandled it and should do everything to get RK back to Japan. However, as soon as the Tommy Gorman interview happened it was clear that RK had no intention of going back so I lost a lot of respect for him. He was given every opportunity to get back in the squad and play in a world cup and he said no - that's the bit I couldn't understand at the time, and still can't.

Thats kind of weird there seems to be only one guy celebrating the goals and he has a blue shirt on not a green one!!
Then there is another guys with a black jacket and a celtic shirt on to the tight and above himn seems to punch the air but everone else seem totally unimpressed!!

Then the net bulged and I just couldn't believe it.

Spot on mate, there's a far different split amongst those fans that actually travel away to those that watch on tv. Your point is exactly where I come from on it, people made and still make a lot of sacrifices to get to the likes of Japan, my feelings on Stephen Ireland are exactly the same as they are on Keane.

Old news now anyway, McCarthy refuses to talk about it, at this stage Keane only drags it up every time he wants a deflection. Time to let it go Roy.

    i hate Roy Keane. debates
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

if I was to hazard a guess he is an umpire at a match at the grounds of Tara Rocks GAA club in Wexford, as it looks like Their excuse for a dressing room in the background

Why do people have to deal in extremes. I pureposely phrased my point in such a way that I did not say all people who travel away were anti keane. I phrased it that I have found, that a lot of fans who travel away have felt let down. Drumcondra was agreeing with that point.

I like big G (ex Crues and all), and he's played well for NI recently (probably MoM in Poland). That said, a couple of Ipswich-regular mates* don't rate him as much more than a lower division stopper, and he's pushing 30. We have one less than crucial competitive game left and by September 2010 I suspect he won't be a first choice either in the national side or in English D2.

Not that we have a queue of starlets ready to replace him, you understand

    * apparently most Ipswich fans have felt since the summer that RK was more likely than not to go within his first season...

Where did I say there wasn't? Note the use of the word 'split' in my original post and try to engage your brain before steaming in with a reactionary reply in future.

I met plenty out there that were as well although most were either from Cork or Man U fans in my experience.
