    New Lansdowne in planning mire

Reports have surfaced which claim that the Office of Public Works have indicated that planning for the redevelopment of Lansdowne Road will only be granted if the capacity of the ground is reduced from 50,000 to 45,000.

The loss of 5,000 seats would be a major blow to both the IRFU and the FAI who are set to become partners along with the government in the €250m redevelopment.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

What difference would 5,000 seats make? Planning permission and the planning authorities in this country are a joke.
