Stephen Kenny does not on any level or account have an inferiority complex about better Dublin-based managers in the League

Don Givens is a managerial genius in his own right and can spot talent both abroad and here at home in the LOI.

I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

This thread is funny because it shows, respectively, those who know what an urban legend is and those who haven't a notion.

Ah, now. I got an assist in a 2-2 draw in one of those in Belfield Park. HarpoJoyce scored. Schumi scored an OG. Granted, every single game since then has been 0-0, but still...

The nickname "banana" given to Alvin Rouse is not in the slightest bit racist!

Well he calls himself it so unless he's ok with racism, it's not.

That Bohs were a decent well run Protestant club, catering for the Unionist population of Dublin, until some feckless money grabbing lower social order Papists took over in 1969 .

Well.....its a legend believed by Rovers fans anyway

As per usual Schmui all threads here turn into pot shots. Urban Legends & quips about those not liked? Meh we can lump em in together.
Anyway another one is that you can but alcohol in the Bar in Flancare Park.
I just sit down at the typewriter & start hittin the keys, just hittin the keys. Getting them in the right order though thats the trick, thats the trick.

I played in that one. That was the first one. I think we took the lead twice only for the Students to come back on both occasions?

Yep, that's right (said schumi )

We also got hammered 5-1 or 5-2 the last time. Bald Student, defecting, took half my tooth out with a shot. Two other games finished 0-0, and of course, let's not forget the legendary 9-6 win which started it all.

    Oi! I didn't say that.

Anyway another one is that you can but alcohol in the Bar in Flancare Park.
Still? Will there ever be alcohol on sale there?

and the thing is we do't care. So what!

Bohs supporters don't care about the presbyterian origins of the club - it's only Rovers supporters who are obsessed with the religion aspect.

Its a more widespread legend than I thought!. Sadly Bohs dont have Presbyterian or reformed faith origins, the founding fathers were Jesuit educated.

Another classic legend is that there is a reference in Ulysses to a Dublin derby game played on what is now Blooms day 1906 (?)

You are missing the point. I could not give a toss if Bohs were founded by a Christian Scientists doing a bit of child sacrifice on the side. Means nothing to me.

Err the point of the thread is about enduring (or recently minted ) legends re the domestic game, the point of my post is that the canard re Bohs origins is quite deeply rooted even among global climate change denyers like your good self
