Sick of the keane thing: didn't want to get involved but......
For god's sake gspain, he's not going to sit out preseason training and go into the first game of the season not match fit. What would the point of that be, your argument is ridiculous.
You beat me to it tiktok, it was a non-sensical post. is the man not allowed to play any football?

News to me, where may i ask did you pick of this information from. From my knowledge of the situation he was advised, and which history has shown to be true, that he would be unable to play as much football as he previously did. He's left with a choice, shorten his career by a couple of years or give up international football, no contest.Originally posted by Conor74

Listen, try rid yourself of these inner demons about Roy Keane, i for one am sick of it..
a choice of "to lick or not to lick (Fergie's arse)" is more like it. If R*y K***e had rid himself of his inner demons he wouldn't have caused (and be continuing to cause) all this shíte in the first place.Originally posted by PaulB

What's going to happen to Liam Miller for the rest of the season at Celtic? Do you think he'll be picked since he's made his decision. I don't see the Celtic supporters cheering him on anyway.
This thread is supposed to be about Liam Miller. If you want to talk about other things (which don't even warrant discussion) set up your own thread and maybe entitle it "Let's have the same stupid argument about Roy Keane".
unbelievably, there are some posters on the eircomLeague messageboard calling for Miller to be booed if he plays for Ireland, becauseHe has turned his back on a great Irish club![]()
I feel sorry for these people, no grip on reality at all
I apologise for dragging this thread down the Roy Keane rathole.
Keane did not have to go to the U.S. Pre-season training is needed but these were promotional games and a player with a serious hip injury would have been better off staying at home. The players were dragged right across the U.S. - hardly ideal preparation but then needs must and money talks.
Now as we all know Keane is in flying form this season and playing out of his skin. He is still the key player for manyoo (more important than RVN in my opinion) but we produce very few world class players as a country and it hurrts deeply when one of them is not playing for us. Yes McCarthy was all wrong too but it still hurts.

Your spot on though. Between Ferguson and K***e they'll have Miller playing for England in Euro 2004.
Cúnts.
From the BBC website Miller has signed for Man Utd. He will transfer to them on 1 July.
There is no mention of how much Celtic will get in compensation as he has been there since '97.
Good man Conor74. I'm sick of the whole argument, its been going on for 18 months, peoples attitude either way are not going to change.Originally posted by Conor74
And, similarly, that's news to me, and sounds like the choice presented to him by his club.
Medically, I can only presume that there is no difference between kicking a ball in a green or a red shirt. So true, the choice may have been play less games or shorten his career. But what doctor could decide that the games to be axed would be all the ones for his country, and the games to be played all the ones for his club, as you suggest?
Are you sick of the suggestion that Keane was wrong, like his fan club? Or, like me, kinda sick of the whole argument either way?
lets drop it..
I would have thought they'd be delighted with him for leaving a club managed by a Sir.Originally posted by Éanna

Yeah, but ManYoo aren't Irish like!
So it's ok for them to have a Sir as their manager!
Ok, first paragraph about Miller, you can ignore the rest. Any Irish fan who would boo an Irish player because he moved from one club to another to further his career doesn't deserve a bloody ticket to any Irish game, in my humble opinion.
and my last word on this....
Bullsh!t. Of course he had to go, United were in the states for four weeks and started the season soon after coming back, they were in the throws of pre-season training. They were not 'dragged' across the states, they were based in Portland, oregon for the bulk of their time, where they trained twice daily at the Nike campus (as part of preseason). The fact that Nike sponsored the tour is irrelevant, a tour of that size needed a sponsor. they played four very competitive friendlies against high quality opposition. That tour was of as much benefit to the players as it was to the PLC.Originally posted by gspain

are you really telling me gspain that you think Roy Keane would be better off playing with the reserves against rochdale than going through the preseason with the rest of his team.
Yes but Sir Taggart never dedicated his award to the whole club including the fans.Originally posted by Éanna

Anyway Martin hasn't got his knighthood yet but given his record no doubt the Celtic fans won't have too long to wait to celebrate that too. Although it may be the Liverpool fans that will be cheering.
I don't think Celtic will get any compensation as Miller will be 23 in February. Furthermore as he is on £1,000 a week isn't compensation done based on a player's salary.
16 day tour according to manutdtour.com (official site, mutv journalist, Ryan Giggs duvet et al) - 4 games in Seattle, LA, NJ & Philly - that's 3 of the 4 corners of continental U.S.A. and it is a big country.Originally posted by tiktok

It was after pre-season training. He has also played 23 competitive games already this season. I'm sure you'll also agree that he has been superb.
I'll take your word for it that i got the length of the tour wrong, the only thing that comes after PRE-Season training, is he season, they still were on pre-season training on that tour regardless of spin. Of course the club and team captain is going to go and train and play on a pre-season tour.Originally posted by gspain

He has been brilliant this season, and if he has played 23 competitive games (i won't doubt you) i can remember five where he started on the bench and United have played in excess of thirty games so far, so obviously he's not playing every game and the club doctors are resting him now and again.
but this thread isn't about keane, i'm sure we're all sick of it so i'm just going to have to try harder not to respond.

Can we just agree that hopefully Roy Keane will help Liam Miller to fulfil his promise and become even half as good. Let's hope Liam has a long and successful International career

If Miller applies himself (and from what I've seen of him, I've no reason to doubt it) at United he'll be surrounded by top class players who he can learn from. In the long term i think it'll be an excellent move for him, my one concern is that united moved early for financial reasons, and next season could see him loaned out to gain experience that he should have been getting next season on celtic's first team.
