Anyone any recommendations on the best media player out there to buy ie watch stuff saved on a hard drive through your tv. I was looking at the Western Digital HD Media Player. Anyone know anything bout this or any thing else on the market?

I use a modified XBox with XBMC - http://xbmc.org/ - to do exactly that.

You can pick up a second hand original XBox for about €30, komplett sell massive internal drives here: http://www.komplett.ie/k/kl.aspx?bn=10096 that you swap in to replace the standard one
Copy any TV shows/Movies/Music over to the machine using your home network
It connects to the net automatically to download information on every show, movie and music file you copy over (plot synopsis, actors, DVD covers, IMBD ratings, etc)
Watch quicktime trailers, youtube video and last.fm streams
Can't recommend it highly enough

Actually, if you have a PS3, Xbox 360 or Wii, you can install TVersity - http://tversity.com/ - on your PC and stream whatever you've downloaded to the console
