O2 pull plug on Drogs deal
Communications behemoth O2 have opted not to renew their sponsorship of eircom League Premier Division outfit Drogheda United, leaving the Boynesiders seeking a new major sponsor ahead of the start of the new season in March.
Part of the deal with the company, which took over Irish-owned Esat Telecom in 2001, saw Drogheda’s home ground renamed O2 Park, but the venue will now revert to its former name of United Park for next season.
