    Fathers day

Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives

Private Eye: D'y'mean to tell me you could have done that at any time?
Animated Character: No ....not until it was funny.

    We band of brothers.
For he today that sheds his blood with me
    Shall be my brother.
    Be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition

And gentlemen in England now a'bed
    Shall think themselves accursed

    And hold their manhoods cheap,

    Upon St. Crispin's Day."

The wonderful Take The Money And Run!

Easy one this, I was watching again not so long ago, beginning of a very famous soliloquy:

"One by one, we're all becoming shades"

Just noticed this now, and to get back on track, the Mr Frodo quote is from The Longest Yard, the Adam Sandler one. Think he says it to a cop who arrests him for drunk driving?
Was kind of unlikely to be from any of the LOTR films in fairness. Why would one hobbit make a joke of another for being short?

Anyway: "One by one we're all becoming shades"
Beginning of a well known soliloquy ending, though not that well known obviously.
May or may not have been parodied by Father Ted.

    The Dead??

Thought you were quoting James Joyce's Dubliners for a minute before I realised the film was based on the book.

    If above is correct
"Mr. Ambassador, you have nearly a hundred naval vessels operating in the North Atlantic right now. Your aircraft has dropped enough sonar buoys so that a man could walk from Greenland to Iceland to Scotland without getting his feet wet. Now, shall we dispense with the bull"

    The Hunt for Red October.

(Lets hope your guess was correct to keep things smooth)

Next - (this dialogue is from memory, so may not be word for word)

Character 1 : It was a lovely [love] letter. But I have to give it back to you.
Character 2 : It's probably just as well. I plagiarised most of it from James Joyce. You were probably wondering about all the references to Dublin.

Character 1 - What happened to the old banks? They were beautiful.
Character 2 - People kept robbing them.
Character 1 - That's a small price to pay for beauty.
