I suppose there is no chance they could have been referring to the double they won last season.

Regarding objections to the flying of flags...

Clearly, they are an expression of political sympathy. I'm ok with that. We have Ford, Nokia, Nivea, Kellogg, Des Kelly, Woodies etc. signs at matches, and these are expressions of commercial links.

I can understand the arguments against tricolours or union flags on this island and in Glasgow, and it's just silly to bring a tricolour to, say, a Spurs game. But what's the problem otherwise?

There's no doubt they were. Embarrassing that they chose a UVF slogan to do so, no?

It's more embarrassing that they were quoting a Tina Turner song...

And he said there was none at the Dundalk match even though there was a thread about it on their forum and it was discussed at the duisc meeting.

"Some ****ed up fools started monkey chants at Manseram after he scored. From most people I've talked to, they don't seem to have been regulars at Utd Park so probably just ********s up for the night."

Yeah cos the UVF own that statement....It was quite clear what they were referring to and you're either a wum or living in a fantasy land if you think otherwise.

(I had no idea it was a UVF slogan and tbh couldnt give a crap).

Bohs fans will plead ignorance, well they would. As for Rovers, a group of their supporters were singing some shíte about Dundalk being the Linfield of the south, I'm not even sure what that's supposed to mean, although it's not the first time I've heard it (the last time I heard it was at a match in the mid-90s against Bohs, coincidentally, though it would be no surprise to me if it was same crowd).
Think you are over-reaching there eelmonster...if ever i hear 'simply the best' on the radio i must now dive to change it cause you just couldnt have a Bohs song on ....everyone to their own but i think this Basque/Palestinian/Cuban etc flag flying in attempt of solidarity is getting on for pathetic. As for rascist claims, they did occur at the Drogs match (wasnt in sligo) but while still dispicable from those involved it was a few idiots and not widespread among Drog support.

What's the problem? I'd already given the Bohs fans the benefit of the doubt. Albeit backhandedly. The fact remains that it is a well-known loyalist paramilitary slogan (and Tina Turner song).

    Oh dear oh dear

I'd say that the reason you have not seen the flag (which is probably the Flag that has a Bohs crest, a silhouette of Kevin Hunt the number "4" and the phrase "Simply the Best" - was it hanging down by the corner flag at the away terrace in Oriel pk?) is that you have been playing in the 1st division for the last few years so unlikely that you have seen it at a football ground during this period, but don't let that get in the way of your prejudices

Are you serious? No really have you been granted temporary access to a computer in your home?

Might as well give my opinion on the flags and open the can of worms that may keep this thread going for another few pages. I think a lot of the time the hanging, flying and waving of these flags is too show solidarity with the country belonging to the flag. Some may not see this as appropriate as politics and football should not mix but the LOI is not the first place the two have met. This may not be justification but it is often the reason which people are free to agree or disagree with.

Open that can of worms and clichés, celtic -- and a grammar book while you're at it.

"Simply the Best" said it all, really.

Ok I'll take advice off you, the simple lad who probably thinks that Tina Turner was recruiting for the UVF?
