    Problems at Flancare

Difficulties for Longford Town FC Ltd
    WEB EXCLUSIVE

Longford Town Football Club Limited was struck by the Companies Registration Office on Friday 12 December in the same week that the North Midlands club were allocated a large sum of money in Captial Grants by the FAI.

The money was to be used to ensure UEFA Licence Compliance, with €2.5m of the €3m available granted to Bohemians, Shelbourne, Longford Town and Cork City to allow them compete in Europe next season.

"We have written to Longford requesting clarification on their situation," said eircom League chairman Brendan Dillon. "We have been in touch over recent months on the subject of their annual returns and were assured that everything was in hand."

This news will come as a big blow to Longford fans who have watched their club rise and rise over the last six months.

Town won the FAI Cup, were runners-up in the League Cup and finishing fourth in Premier Division title race while two of their best young players, Stephen Paisley and Sean Dillon, made it into Gerry Smith's World Youth Cup panel.

Longford's Chairman Jim Hanley and FAI representative Donald Keogh were not available for comment.

    struck off

    It depends.

Company was probably struck off for not submitting annual returns to the Companies Office.

This means accounts weren't ready in time.

To be re instated accounts would have to prepared and signed by an auditor, annual returns prepared and application for reinstatement made.

There's a late filing fee of €150 or someting plus €3 per day for every day your late up to a max of €1,200. Maybe €250 to be reinstated as well.

The biggest cost would paying an accountant to do the accounts and prepare the return for the Companies office. That cost would depend on how many years accounts need to be done.

If the company is struck off for a year you have to go to the High Court which would be very expensive.

Anyone know the name or company number of the Longford Town company? Might be able to check Companies office website to see latest.
