Qualifying or not I don't think using the granny tactic is the way forward! Doesn't give much hope for the young girls in Ireland busting a gut trying to make the team when girls are being brought in from abroad.

Qualifying for a prestigious tournament with a team of 'foreigners' would not be ideal when the female stage at home is far from acceptable and Irish based players are overlooked.

And I am not saying the team is currently full of 'foreigners', I mean in terms of future selection policies

Megan Campbell hit the crossbar three times and McDonnell had a shot touched onto the post by the 'keeper.

Looking at the Swiss results in their two qualifiers so far adds a bit of perspective to the results of those two friendlies. On Thursday they beat holders Italy 3-0 and then on Saturday they had a 7-3 win over the Netherlands (7 goals in the last 25 minutes according to the UEFA website). The Swiss have already qualified for the finals with those two results in what is certainly not the easiest of groups.

Sure, the Irish girls will be up against it tomorrow but well done to them so far - a good result against the Russians, and I am sure we can expect a big effort against the Germans.

6-0 to the German girls. I think that Sue Ronan will be dissappointed with that result. A goal after a few seconds and two more after 89 minutes.
