Associations facing ownership uncertainty
The IRFU and the FAI are heading for a crisis after contrasting claims made by the heads of the respective bodies on Tuesday regarding the ownership of a new Lansdowne Road stadium, the proposal for which was put to the Government earlier in the day.
The project would bring the capacity of the Dublin 4 venue up to an all-seated 50,000, and would cost in the region of Eur250m in today’s prices to bring to completion, with around Eur170m of that sum to be funded by the taxpayer.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
