....never liked him at all...Thats about his level. He turned down other jobs because he thought he was better. Turns out he is not.

He learned nothing with Ireland but we learned that he was ignorant to his faults and would not change.

The media have so many of their own agendas on managers its not funny. I was reading Cathal Dervin on Sunday in the Star and we was lamenting not having Brian Kerr around as the media don't get to socialise in pubs and nightclubs with the players anymore.

This from the same man who admitted he wanted Kerr out at the time.

This from the same man who is constantly on Trappatoni's back because he wanted Venables in the job.

I'm beginning to think that p*ss ups with the players are more important to some journos than results. You only have to look at their lamenting of Andy Reid's absences from Ireland squads to see that.

To his credit to this day he's still the only Irish manager to fully appreciate what Andy Reid can offer us.
A better manager then one of only 2 to qualify us for a major tournament and who never had us lower then 2nd in 3 campaigns? And who has also got 3 clubs into the Championship play-offs, won the Championship once and looks like winning it again with a different club?

Is it any wonder that you have a credibility defecit on here with comments like that.

Stan is a no brainer obviously....

Brian Kerr has his first competitive game at home to Serbia tomorrow

Kerr is not in charge of the u21's but you'd suspect he is involved in some capacity.
This evening the Faroes u21s recorded a famous victory over Russia, beating them 1-0 at home, at least the kop look happy as the ball hits the net.

Watch Kerr help the Faroes win underage World and European Championships while working in the shadows, and help develop the next Faroese world football star- Damienson Duffskalonen.

Good luck to Kerr tonight - I was happy to see him leave the Irish senior set up but its always nice to see an Irish manager try his luck abroad
Tough one tonight (V Serbia - if they are not hammered then thats a good result)

    Serbia's a tough start alright.

Amazing result for their U21s though.

Pity he wasn't running our U21s. He seems the obvious choice. Crazy that Givens is still in charge. He must be there about 20 years at this stage and most of the players breaking into the senior Irish set-up seem to have bypassed U21 football. Can't recall Folan, St Ledger or even Best playing for Givens.

Absolutely drummerboy- if I were in charge at the FAI, the first thing I'd do was pay whatever money required to the Faroes to get Kerr back here to be in charge of the U-21s, and also give him authority to do whatever he wants with youth football (maybe a title like director of youth development or something).

100% agree, good luck to him.

Agree with Drummerboy's post too, he wasn't righjt for the seniors but if there was any chance if getting him back to teh 21's ahead of Givens it'd be fantastic. I think his bitteness towards Delaney and the FAI would preclude that happening without a change at the top though.

The Faroes generally don't get hammered (in the football sense) at home.
Already in this campaign they got a 1-1 result against their favourite team Austria and lost just 1-0 to Romania.
Kerr is taking over a set up that is functioning and has already made strides. The next step is to take at least one big scalp at home.

Would Kerr have gone back to the FAI though?

Just to be clear ...that's upwards of 400k a year plus whatever compo the Faroes sought. The 400K a year on it's own is about three times what the IFA were paying Lawrie Sanchez to manage Northern Irelands senior squad. Just to be clear like.

Kerr has a good job with the Faroes for 2 years. He is a big fish in a small pond and will have the total respect of the Faroese. Even if the FAI came with cap in hand, does anybody seriously think Kerr would move to sever his ties with the Faroes?

I really don't see him ever accepting any position with the FAI, it's almost 4 years since he drew against Switzerland and everything he still writes about the national side drips with poison ink
All goals, yellow and red cards tweeted in real time on mastodon, BlueSky and facebook
