Kerr having a bit of a stab at Trap today in the Irish Times.

“Years ago at a football conference the San Marino coach handed me a book, ‘Coaching High Performance Soccer by Giovanni Trapattoni’. Must take it down off the top shelf and blow the dust off it. Because if I ever get another coaching position maybe I'll change my ways. For starters, I'll cut back on all those matches I used to attend. The player meetings – especially the one to one chats? No need.”

typical of Kerr, almost everything he has written since his contract wasn't renewed at the end of the 2006 qualifiers has been laced with a poison pen

On that basis the Ni job would have suited him!

yeah he rarely has anything positive to say. Didn't he offer to show Trap one of his opposing team binders? Estonia maybe? I suppose that was nice but Alas, Trap can only read in Italian and Kerr only eats it.

I wonder does Trap's book contain any chapters on losing the respect of the dressing room, surrendering leads cheaply, putting in limp passionless performances in must-win last group games and never actually qualifying for things? Probably not. Kerr's might though.

I used to really like the guy. Get over it Brian.

theres one thing far far more predictable than Traps tactics and thats brian kerrs whinge fest in the IT every time we have a match. what a bitter begrudging fool he has become

The article gets worse after that opening quote,
Now it's a 'fact' in Kerr's head, that Trap and Tardelli rule the roost with the humour of a North Korean prison guard.

'My fear is that a cold atmosphere from the management in an already boring, functional tactical approach may lead to problems.'

And Kerr proposes a truly bizarre tactical solution to that imagined problem

'From what I hear some loosening up and respect of Irish culture – yes, the singing and refuelling aspect – may be required. Otherwise, the bonuses will not be the only issue of discontent among the players.'

Here Kerr alludes to having a deep throat inside the camp, obviously a very dry deep throat

Must get that copy of `Qualifying for a Major Football Tournament` by Brian Kerr off the top shelf.

Trap's coaching manual should be updated to include his experiences with Ireland.
The title probably would have be renamed as well,
from 'Coaching High Performance Soccer' to 'Coaching High Performance Soccer and Irish Soccer'.

    Pathetic

Kerr has proved by his utterances since he was relieved of his Irish duties that he was not up to the job.

Its not that easy to prove the FAI right but Kerr has done it with aplomb.

the standout line for me there was that he hasn't seen the recent qualifiers. While I accept he was busy with the Faroes, and his various media duties, it's a strange statement from someone who's been connected with the Ireland setup for so long.
If it's true, then it does invalidate any of his previous criticisms of the team's performance, if he can't be bothered to watch the game to form his opinions, I can't be bothered to read them.

Off The Ball are having a series of guest presenters for their football hour from 9 to 10 last week and this week. Kerr is going to be on some night this week, should be interesting to see what he has to say.

Listened back to Brian Kerr's slot on Monday night, mostly it was about managing the Irish underage sides, and St Pat's, with surprisingly little about managing the senior team. One thing he did mention was that he pushed for friendlies against higher ranked teams. When he took over, games had already been organised against Scotland and Norway, but he wanted the Czech Republic, Portugal, and then Brazil obviously came to Lansdowne Road.

When he was asked about the current side, he criticised Trapattoni for not including McClean in the original squad on the basis of him not knowing what Trapattoni "allegedly teaches on the training pitch" (direct quote from Kerr)

Also made a point of mentioning that he watched McClean "live" (as in - not on DVD) last weekend and met him for dinner afterwards

Richie Sadlier was on last night, and when asked about who he would start against Croatia, he said he'd stick with the existing team, because Trapattoni hasn't given enough of the fringe players time to prove what they can do. Which is a fair criticism in my opinion and the negative side of having a settled squad, and starting XI.

Bernard Dunne was the guest tonight. He picked the same team as Trap with the sole exception of Walters instead of Doyle.
