    Dublin to Drogheda

What is the best way to get to Drogheda from the centre of Dublin for an evening game by public transport? I assume the trains run that way? Is there a train back to Dublin after an evening game?

Train from Connolly; takes 30-45 minutes depending on stops.

No train back after the match though, AFAIK.

Last train back is at 22:05, so if the match ends at 21:30/35 you'll be fine. It's a fairly brisk walk, though.

Thanks. Is there a web site giving the train timetables? A pity there is no train back around 10pm.

Wouldn't risk the train, having made unsuccessful mad dashes through Drogheda to make it in the past. I'd get the train there and the bus back.

Thanks. Looks as if it is do-able by train there and back for an evening game. How far is the train station from the ground in Drogheda then?

It's two miles or so, I'd say. You'd be pushing it walking from the ground. Bus station is half way between the ground and the train station.

Any idea on the last bus back? Is there a bus timetable web site? Sorry for all the questions - it is many years since I lived in Ireland.

www.cie.ie links into Bus Éireann and Iarnród Éireann. Links should be at the top. Don't know about independent bus operators.

As far as Sligo is from Wexford!! It's the other end of the town.

Best train is the 18:40 from Connolly, which gets to Drogheda in 40 minutes. It's only an undulating 40 minute-ish walk to the ground from there.

The 22:40 bus to Dublin is the one to take after the game from the bus station, at the foot of the hill in the centre of the town. Although how much longer it will continue, in the economic climate is another thing.

Get the Matthews Coaches bus from outside Paddy Power on Parnell St. It's faster and more regular than Bus Éireann and also stops 5 minutes from the ground at the petrol station on the north side of the town.

    Timetable here: http://www.matthewscoach.com/documen...-timetable.pdf

The 6pm bus from Parnell St. will get you there in plenty of time. The return bus leaves Dundalk at 9.30pm picking up at the garage on the north side of the town at 9.55pm.

Worked for Iorfa2MaccaJim. He got to Sligo, danced on the terraces of Finn Park and got back again thanks to the Internet. Don't diss the Internet!
