You mean you don't know yourself? So your rant is completely unfounded by your own admission?

Rhetorical Question - the other clubs fund theirs, the tax payer funds yours...

Last time Bohs were in a far worse financial mess.

In the 80s while it was the match to win there was far less violence. Rovers away to Dundalk, Limerick or Waterford were far worse.

Pats and Shels were a joke (similar to Bray now) both clubs needed each other far more than now. Though that season was to see pats renaissence.

McNamara and the Rovers board behaved in an ungrateful and embarrassing manner once Bohs sold the ground to the FAI, though most of the Bohs committeemen of that time will have moved on by January.

    There's four.

havent given me one good reason why the current rovers board would not use dalymount

    im waiting

    i'll put in simpler language:

    bray : ruled out

    richmond: ruled out

tolka: something IS going to give and that is rovers tenuous tenancy there

santry: cant see it happening, and theyre having their own problems at present due to the end of a fas scheme

    UCD: ruled out

    dalymount: ???

Eh, it's not up to the Rovers board. The current Rovers board would "use" anywhere but they're not in a position to tell any other club that Rovers will be using their facilities - especially not our arch rivals.

I cant see bohs having a problem with it to be honest
and the rivals bit is only a minor detail, especially if you've nowhere in dublin to play

anyway its the only logical alternative left, thats all I'm saying, simple deduction

Cork City to win some silverware and a real shot at title, tho' probably too early.

Waterford could collapse due to board (mis)management - Reynolds to leave next season (easy prediction or what?)

Derry will have problems but should stay up

Rovers to struggle, fighting relegation unless they get some financial help

Shels could end up midtable, again unless they get financial help

Bohs should weather financial difficulties better and be serious title contenders

St. Pats / Longford for Europe

    Harps for playoff heartache again

I'd put Santry and Drogheda ahead of Dalymount

Easy knowing you don't follow Rovers or Bohs. Our rivalry is very strong and runs very deep. And things have changed a lot since the last time. Give us a shout when Pats have a rivalry the same as Rovers/Bohs. You'll probably begin to understand then.

If you think Chippie or Gartlan hate Rovers you should talk to some of the old codgers up at Dalymount. Now that's real hatred.

Can very easily be argued that we pay for ours by way of the free advertising we give the College - having so many sports teams at a high level in their various leagues is a huge draw for the College when students are applying.

Your point that we don't raise our own money implied that we're completely dependent on the College for funding, which isn't true.

If you're so worried about the Government funding clubs, I presume you're going to be giving your half million grant back? That's easily more than the value of the Scholarship scheme over our league existence, and for nothing in return either.

Anyway, this is going completely off topic...

What are you talking about WeAreShams? The rivalry with Bohs and Shams is very mild compared to many European rivalries. Its just fans from both clubs trying to over hype the situation or thugs from both clubs looking for nothing more then a fight . I don’t think there is any real hatred between both set of fans like Celtic & Rangers or Ajax & Feyenoord where fans have been killed.
Btw why do Shams hate Bohs so much anyway forgetting a few small incidents over the last few years?

I think you under estimate the level of hatred between Bohs and the scum. Just because there isn't 60,000+ attendances at the matches like in other big European rivalries, doesn't mean the rivalry is any less fierce.

Fans don't need to be killed for hatred to exist. There is definitely deep hatred between us & the Hoops filth. Without meaning to be patronising, I think you have to be a Bohs or Rovers fan to understand it. I hate everything to do with them and I'm sure it works both ways.

Oh Great .... there hasn't been a "lets glorify fighting amoung fans way out of proportion" thread here in a while .....
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

As regards where are Rovers gonna play, it wouldn't surprise me to see the FAI lean on Bohs to take in Continuity Home Farm and then Rovers stay in Tolka. Whether Rovers could afford the rent is another matter.

I wouldn't rule out Richmond entirely. I reckon Andy O'C would consider it, but every game would be policed like Red Star v Dynamo Zagreb.

Speaking of eastern Europe, I think a return to Santry's the most likely outcome. It's probably not up to UEFA-licence scratch, but I'm becoming more and more convinced the licence rules aren't gonna be applied next season, not if they're talking about dishing out €2.5m to bring the four Euro qualifiers up to scratch midway through the season.

Doc there are two sets of uefa rules. one the licencing rules for our top division (1500 seats etc) and another for uefa competitions. For example Djurgardens had to play Rovers at the rasunda and if Pats had been playing Hibernians of Malta they'd have had to do so at Tolka or Dalyer.

That said only 6 teams in the whole league have 1500 or more covered seats so their not going to apply those rules either.

Anyone find it funny when Rovers fans hate Bohs so much they can’t even admit how much they hate them. We’ve had Rovers fans on here before saying that at various previous times Drumcondra, Shels, Waterford and Limerick have been Shamrock’s greatest rivals.

So WaR (or TommyT) what is it? Has it always been Bohs (and therefore you can’t move in with them) or do you rivals periodically change and there’s nothing really to stop you miving back there?

BTW I think club officials should rise above us petty fans and I’d have no proplem if our board worked closely with Shels, Bohs or Rovers if it meant my club would go forward.
