I'll probably change all this a little closer to kick-off time but right now I would suggest:

    Premier

    1. Shelbourne
    2. Bohemians
    3. Cork City
    4. St. Patrick's Athletic
    5. Longford Town
    6. Shamrock Rovers
    7. Waterford United
    8. Drogheda United
    -------------------------
    9. Dublin City
    -------------------------
    10. Derry City (though I hope not)

    First
    1. Bray Wanderers
    -------------------------
    2. Finn Harps
    3. UCD
    4. Limerick (call it a hunch but...)
    -------------------------
    5. Sligo Rovers
    6. Kildare County
    7. Galway United
    8. Athlone Town
    9. Cobh Ramblers
    10. Dundalk
    11. Monaghan United
    12. Kilkenny City

    FAI Cup
I have a sneaking suspicion that Cork will win this, Dolan will need a trophy of some description this year other than The U-21's and he'll doubtless tell us all how 'In many ways winning the Cup is even more difficult than the league' afterwards.

    League Cup
Could go anywhere really but I'll nominate Pats to defeat Dublin City in the final prompting the Cork fans here to flood the board to say that it's not a real trophy anyway and Cork wouldn't be interested in winning it.
The ball is round and has many surprises.

    5. Shels (can only afford ****e)
    6. Derry (money in the bank, but need time to rebuild)
    7. Rovers (see Shels)
    8. Drogheda (building themselves up but not great)
    9. Dublin City (see Drogheda)
    10. Waaterfurd (Deja Vu, ever notived the number of WUFCers in Merrion Square)

    First Division (hopefully)

    1.Harps
    11.UCD
    12.Bray

Macy, the random nonsensical UCD-bashing is getting a bit tiring now - any chance of you getting over it?

UCD raise their own extra money (i.e. outside of gate receipts/advertising) like everyone else - golf outings, dinners, soccer camps, etc. No matter how many times you say otherwise, that isn't going to make what you say true. It's just going to make you sound more and more petty really.

    Thank you.

Nah.... well maybe if you stay down and don't nick any players off us on scholarships....

Too many Sligomen at other clubs TRR. If it wasn't for harps repeated heartbreaks I'd most want youse up.

I'd love to see what proportion of UCD's budget comes from this ''fundraising''

    shock

i truely believe that everyone will be shocked next season by both leagues.

sligo are one of the more financially stable clubs there and should go up and the harps might and still be forever in our shadow.saturday night hahahaha.

derry cork spa longford seem to be the only financially stable clubs and after we saved for the uefa we are splashing out this pre season so beware all.

You derrymen said that last year though.

BTW as an add on to my prediction I'll say that both Pats and Cork will win a League in the next 3-4 years. Derry have cash in the bank and have had decent crowds considering their form but the locals coming through just don't seem to be good enough.

Mark Farren was good enough scoring 4 goals in the play-offs !! He only broke through from the reserves recently.
Anyway we are not bound to the local policy anymore considering the extra cash....(and before you say it the fundraising is continous)...Its not been 'that local' this year with Holt/Hedderman/Gough/Martyn in the squad.

Not saying he won't come good, but all that proves is he scored 4 goals against 1st division opposition.....

Any more than Dublin City? Or Shels? Or Kilkenny? Or Rovers?

Most teams supplement their income with a big income from fundraising. That's the way the league is.

I'm suggesting it's considerably less than at the above named clubs because of the GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY.

The UCD Sports Dept. is funded by the registration fee that the students pay, not by the Government. The soccer club gets very little of that money though. The grants for each club are loosley based on how many student members each club has. The main benefit that the soccer club's senoir team gets is a ground free from rent and taken care of by the UCD grounds staff.

The scholarship scheme is a link with the College. Any club can do that; some clubs (Cork and Bohs to name two) are already doing it. It can't be an unfair advantage if others can do it as well.
