we can get a goal here. Let's keep moving the ball around quickly and let them chase. 87 minutes with 10 men is hard going for the lungs.

    COME ON IRELAND!

Foley is no journeyman he just doesn't have any experience at this level. That's the only reservation I'd have about him. However, he is a natural attacking RB playing regularly and doing well at a decent level. Which is exactly what we need with all the space we are getting down the wings. McShane is a CB and not a very good one at that. Hope Foley come on for at the start of the second half.

Get Reid on for Whelan we need someone to create.
Can't see where our goal is coming from there is no room get through that defense.

better than saturday in my opinion. Though it is against 10 men so not sure what to make of it. McShane is not an international class player. Would much rather Kelly or an experienced Foley.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

Can we just drop McShane into the Mediterrean and pretend he never existed.

I'll keep quiet if you all do...

Italy happyn to give the ball to an inept, if hard working, Irish midfield. I thought Keane might create abit but he's just getting in the way

I know McShane is an easy target, but he really is his dreadful.

    Wasn't a red card either.

Game still very much alive though, if Ireland can string a couple of passes together

Pirlo is class. whelan and andrews shud really just look at how this man plays. gives a through ball at every opportunity without going far from the centre circle. his distradution is class.

Take note crab one and crab two, not all the balls have to go sideways or backwards. just even the occasional forward ball wouldnt go astray!!!

How could McShane go from relatively promising to the footballing equivalent of Typhoid Mary? How does this happen in football. Remember Gus Ceaser that wotsiname wrote a about in fever pitch?

I wasn't referring specifically to Foley; I have heard good things about him but not got the chance to watch him play, I just feel anyone would be better than a pretend footballer like McPain

Did you ever notice that in every painting of Adam & Eve, they have belly buttons. Think about that...take as long as you want.

He was never any kop. he never had much promise below a League 1 defender who no one was sure what position he plays best.

I can't see how anyone was ever impressed by him. I once said he was to short (amongst other things) on here and someone said Cannavaro is only 5-9.
    Yes. Thats right. Fabio Cannavaro

this long ball approach is just meat and drink to the Italians. And we all know they love meat and drink.
