We're having awful problem with the wireless router in the house, it's a Belkin N1 - http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=273526 - but is constantly dropping the connection. I had to restart the thing 3 times last night after it dropped the connection with my laptop, and I was in the same room!
There's 4 of us in the house, and each of us have a laptop, plus a PS3 for online gaming, and 2 of us (me included) would be fairly heavy downloaders. We're looking to replace it, so can anyone recommend a router that will stand up to that kind of usage?
Belkin seems to be slipping to be honest, they seem to have moved towards style over substance, and in a recent incident got caught paying for reviews of their products on popular retail sites. I still buy some of their kit, but only the "unsexy" stuff.
I have two LinkSys routers at home, a VOIP router and a repeater, and the only real problem I've ever had with them is an inability to prioritise VOIP traffic. They're clunky but they work, and of course if I wanted to I could install 3rd party firmware on them and do what I want.
