Great appointment by us in my opinion. Recognisable face for the barstoolers, proven track record and from what I hear he's quite the tactician, which is just what we need in this already skilled side
Yeah but didnt they lose like their first 8 games or something under him and then it all took off, went on a mad run of 1 defeat in 20 or sumit like that!

I'm delighted with the appointment tbh. The most progressive move we've made in years.

I dont see that happening. We have enough talent in our current squad to compete in this division, also the club hasnt got money to make it worthwhile for players to travel from Dublin.

As well as all that, on a personal note I like the fact that our squad is almost entriely local, or for example lives local due to being a student at UL or such-like.

Even if say we were to get promoted, I wouldnt like to see any more than a couple of imports/mercenaries as our locality should and does have enough talented players without the need to look further afield.

The manager however is a different story, and I'm delighted we've got Scully, for all the reasons you mentioned

In fairness Scully won't take players who aren't committedd so if anyoe comes down, ut#ll be worth it

Obviously its better if you don't need them and local players do the job

I wish him, and Limerick, well

Im not really fond of the man meself but credit giving where credit's due lads. im not sayin he's a first division manager now coz he's shown he can play with the big boys, but scully is a great first division manager, great work with rovers and kilkenny, fair play to limerick, there going from strength to strength.

Good signing for Limerick - he will do well for you.

Expect to see a lot of new faces and then in the mid-season break expect to see a raft of more new faces. Expect clean sheets and last minute winners. Expect maximum lino harrassment.

And when defending set pieces .... "Be Strong! Be Strong!"

Limerick deserve something like this. They have had their fair share of troubes over the last few years so I hope they can make a sustained push for promotion

4th was good, the club was really on the up it seemed when he was there.

Limerick should do well out of this.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

We have the talent and just needed a good manager, now we have that we should definately be pushing for a promotion spot. Only problem for Scully now is getting all these talented players free from injury. Its going to be a tough start for him with alot of first teamers injured or lacking match practice.

    Interesting season ahead me thinks.

Wish Limerick all the best, no reason why such a big population centre shouldn't have a team able to compete at top of first division for starters. Scully's job with Kilkenny indicate that he might just have what it takes to wake the sleeping giant on Shannonside. Althought I am suspicious of appointing managers from a league of Ireland culture/background, as the football their teams play is so bloody awfull, eg Fenlon, Doolin etc

People thinking Limerick are going to be pushing for a promotion spot this season really need to get their head examined. Its probably going to be a 2 horse race, with Waterford and UCD the possible outsiders. Maybe Scully will be able to make them a stronger proposition next season but theres no way they're going to be able to keep up with Fingal this season. It'll take Shels to be at their absolute best to beat Fingal with UCD and Waterford possibly ready to sneak in if neither team shines.
Lets redefine what it means to heal

    Playoffs.......

Also, have no idea where you get the notion UCD, Waherfurr and indeed Shels for that matter are far stronger than Limerick either.

Me personally, I'd settle for a competive 4th place. But anyone writing us completely out of the playoff picture
this season really need to get their head examined.

I haven't seen Limerick yet but have ye kept most of the players ye had for the second half of last season? I know ye lost Sheehan but is the basis of that team still there as they were very good when I saw them beat us in Flancare last season.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

Yes its the same team barr Sheehan with a few additions to the team too....one of which (Cummins, who's out injured at the moment) looks perfectly capable to replace Sheehan. Limerick have started poorly because of lack of pre-season and injuries but with the team all fit and a few games played we will be a much tougher prospect than at the moment.

Whatever about your opinion of how teams are playing (you obviously haven`t seen many Bohs games under Fenlon), the most successful managers in the league have all had a LOI pedigree, Jim Mc Laughlin, Billy Young. Rico etc all managed football playing sides.

    Basically what Jofspring said.

Although if memory serves that team that beat ye in Flancare was actually fairly patchwork on the night.

    Even Manjor scored!!
