Rooney anticipated contact and went down. Just like Eduardo did. The difference being that Boruc managed to pull his hands away completely, Almuni didn't and made contact with Rooney, and that contact meant a penalty was inevitable.

It is madness to say that the contact with Almunia was the reason Rooney went over though.

'U-N-I-T-E-D, United are the team for me' was sang throughout the whole match by Man U fans according to my friend who was at the match.... GAY!

And the pagan missed the Longford match against Monaghan to go and listen to that awful song for the whole match

Thank God I follow the League of Ireland!

I see Fergie is apparently concerned about Ferdinand and the amount of injuries he's picking up over the course of the last year. Only played something like 23 games ut of the last 52. Couldn't believe that stat. Suppose it has to be a worry with him the wrong side of 30 now.

Must be a concern alright. Fair play to Jonny Evans for his performances last year, United still conceded fewest League goals (with Chelsea). Wes Brown looked good the last night but there'll be bigger fish to fry than Wolves.

Will be interesting to see if Brown can stay fit now. Probably rely more on Evans but picks injuries up as well.

Yeah Evans always seems to be carrying knocks and doubtful. I think he would have been out of contention far more often last season only for the circumstances.

Yes considering how well Brown played in 07/08 i'd say your right there.

No need. His said it all really.

Nah to be honest I don't know much about either's form at international level. Thought Anderson would have got more game time alright but wouldn't be well up on the situation. Lucas was obviously highly regarded at one stage anyway, captaining them at underage.

Brazil have already qualified haven't they? I think most people would prefer their players not to travel to South America for meaningless games mid season, but whatever floats your boat I guess.

Looking forward to his return. I think he will add an awful lot, he's a real big game player too I think. Hopefully he won't break down again but it's surely a real possibility.

Hamstring- 3 weeks they reckon. With 2 handy enough home games and an international break coming up the timing was ok. Hopefully it's just an isolated injury but with Owen you'd always be fearful it's more than that.

Had a lot of isolated injuries over the years. Glad we didn't sign him now. Media would go into over drive on Rafa.

Like I thought at the time, it was a no risk signing. Aquilani is far more risky if you ask me.

He can stay injured all year for all i care, the goal against Man City was more than enough

Berbatov played very well last night when he came on so if he can preform like that on a consistant basis Owen won't get near the team even when fit.

Rio Ferdinand is gone to the dogs altogether, turned his arse to the cross for the goal last night. Thats the 3rd or 4th time he's done that this season and had it result in a goal!
