Board will have 'huge implications' for RTÉ

The Communications Minister Dermot Ahern has said future television licence fee increases won't be granted to RTÉ, unless they perform to a certain standard.

He made the comments as he told the new board of the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland that he is pressing ahead with the implementation of a new Broadcasting Authority.

It is aimed at regulating commercial and public TV and radio in Ireland.

The new board will set the standards for all broadcasters in the country.

Dermot Ahern said it will have huge implications for RTÉ.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Does that mean if they asked perform consistently crap that they'll get loads of increases?

    Sounds promising...

Was watching the news yesterday though - the Green Party are after amking a proposal to ban advertising to children on the grounds that it's mainly toys and fast food. Which is a very good idea, in my opinion. The aforementioned Dermot Ahern dismissed it outright as the Greens trying to make a name for themselves. Which has me less convinced that the lad can deliver on this.

It's a pity more Fianna Failers don't have the guts and brains of Dermot Ahern. He must feel out of place with the rest of the lazy and/or incompetent and/or corrupt muppets.
