Not even reports on the First Division, thats pathetic if you ask me, over half the clubs in the league will no longer exist according to our national broadcaster
Due to financial constraints the national brodcaster is dropping its Friday night coverage of the League. Also the first division is being consigned to the wilderness as Aertel and the RTE website will not be carrying any reports on the division as they did previously. Just updates and final scores. Maybe sponsors Newstalk could take on what RTE is dropping?

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
Most clubs have match reports on their websites shortly afterwards anyway. and tbh that doesnt surprise me, the first division doesn't really exits to anyone outside it, and especially to RTE, even ask Fran Gavin.![]()
I’m not pedantic...I’m merely overly concerned with minute details.
If RTE don't make cuts in that service they won't be able to continue to pay the wages of their big stars. If Pat Kenny & others don't get that money they will go........errrr somewhere else...
Its also not like RTE get a licence fee increase linked to inflation....Oh wait...
RTE will forget about the First Division but still spend money on coverage of the English Premiership and the Champions League.
aw look lads quit the whinging
why can't some clubs do the reports themselves? Team sheets plus major events i.e. cards, subs, goals, controversial decisions and times of each shouldn't be hard to muster?! Even if you have to get some ten year old in the crowd to do it.
Who knew RTÉ were cr@p?!
Don't give them an excuse, get out there and make it easy for them to cover the division if it matters that much to you. Costs are an issue do it for them at no cost and you might get your coverage - whinge and you definitely won't.
btw really hopeful we won't be in 1st div next year but it's a possibility for us - so am not just saying this cos we're in the premier at the moment. If the chips are down - knuckle down and fix the problem!
He doesn't do the reports any more as too busy running the club
I think Friday Night Sport is to be cancelled so it affect other sports such as rugby (when they play on that night).
RTEs funding is a joke as no link from licence fee to public service broadcasting but thats probably for another thread...
If the Drogs were down in the first division would all drogged up still be on such a high horse ? Me thinks not !!!!
De groot nummer 10
Joke of a decision
Glad I don't pay my licence
Shocking decision by rte to tell the truth.I hope Newstalk can step in cover the league with regards to updates etc.
I wonder how much it would add up to if each fan that supports a first divison team chose not to pay their tv licences?
Harps - 500 fans (I mean hardcore fans)
Shels - 500
Waterford - 300
Fingal - 10
Kildare - 20
Monaghan - 20
UCD - 50
Athlone - 200
Limerick - 150
Mervue - ? 20?
Longford - 300
Wexford - 200
That would be 2270 minimum fans (that can't be right), at €165 per head is €374,550 per year.
Ok looking at it that way, just cover Shels and Harps games forget aboutt he rest![]()

Disgraceful, they call themselves Irish, and won't even broadcast enough LOI. Newstalk are in a whole different league
