I would have like a few more verses myself.
Congratulations Dublin City
A Pete Goulding Poem
Congratulations Dublin City!
Their feat was so audacious.
It really is a dreadful pity
Folk can't be more gracious.
All season long, it's true to say,
Their form was quite empirical.
And we should all rejoice, for they
Have worked a minor miracle.
Four members of the playing staff
When John Gill took control,
And though at times, you had to laugh,
His eyes were on the goal.
With scarcely any fans in tow
To shout and lend support,
They put on an almighty show,
Despite what people thought.
Just four defeats throughout the year,
And only one away,
Opponents had no cause to jeer
Their quality of play.
John Gill, with most alarming ease,
Defied all common reason.
Surely there's no quibble, he's
The Manager of the Season.
Yet there are those who show disdain
At their deserved promotion.
They say for us there is no gain
And why the big commotion?
And what will Dublin City bring
To the Premier Division?
No fans, no ground, they have nothing -
And hence the great derision.
But people should give them their due
And input all the factors,
And maybe they'll surprise a few
Of their most strong detractors.
I would have like a few more verses myself.
you mite be able to write poems but you have no hope of staying in the premier division
CCFC Till I Die
pride comes before a fall! We're coming to get yeh!
