Why such poor attendances at Longford lately?

People in Longford don't seem to get the concept of short term pain for long term gain. A large amount of debt which had been built up over the years has been paid back in the past three years but because that means a crap team on the field, after a few defeats each year the general population loses interest. Ho hum. Another year or two we'll be upwardly mobile again hopefully.

Is that the Cork people coming out to help ease the financial situation or is it because Bohs are the best team in the league?

Either way impressive and if it's to help ease the financial situation fair play to the Cork supporters. You could end up with the biggest average seen in Irish football north and south of the border for quite some time.

It's because we were top of the league and playing the team in second.

We're well capable of getting those crowds for 'big games' but havnt had very many of them in recent times. For example, we almost always got over 5000 when we played Shels.

If wed won, we'd have gotten the same of higher next weekend, but because we lost and were appalling that will be halved.

Around 3,000 at Rovers - Drogheda last night. Not sure if they sold all the tickets but must have gone fairly close.

I heard it was the worst crowd of the season.

I was behind the goal so had a good view of the stand, there was about 300 empty seats. The singing section wasn't as jammed as usual but I'd say 3,000 is about right and that would be the worst of the season so far.

That would be about 3 times our best so far. Sharp contrast

I got to the game about 7mins after kick-off (seriously underestaimted how long the Luas journey takes !). About 5mins later I saw the guy with the money box being escorted through the stand, so I must have been one of the last tickets bought. The book that I bought my ticket from was about three-quarters full when I bought mine (I'd guess 40 or so left in it ?), but I've no idea if there were any other books left.

I'd therefore guess about 3,000 as well, as there weren't many empty seats around.

Very impressed with the stadium - will be great when the second stand goes in. Plus the shop is very professional.

It'll be interesting to see where the crowds go from here. The initial curiosity is dying down, and the summer is well and truly here. Do Rovers have any new marketing plan for the summer?
