I know, even when we are doing well the crowds aren't picking up. The decline started a few years ago when we had a couple of terrible seasons in the premier division and the fans aren't coming back. I was away last weekend so couldn't make the game but it seems clear Saturday is not working and we will have to move our next home game as well as it'll clash with Munster v Leinster rugby game if we don't. The Waterford public seem to have no interest in the local club![]()
So let me get this straight; You've tried moving games around to suit the Waterford public (FA Cup Semi Final/Rugby) and they have stayed away in their droves regardless. So you're next plan is to move your game again because of a club rugby match and hope that you get different results?
I believe that I am paraphrasing Einstein when I say that the definition of insanity is to repeat the same action and to expect different results.
It's a pain having to repeat this. You have to compare like with like.
Most clubs tend to have a higher average attendnace at the start of a seaosn that an end. At the start it's new and exciting again, and there's everythigng to play for. By the end the majority of clubs are in with a shout of winning nothing and the weather is getting sh!t, so their crowds reflect that.
As was posted earlier - the year-on-year comparison for the league so far actually shows a decline in attendances.
As for Saturday kick-offs........![]()
Twice by John83. Looking at an overall league "average" of about 1100 this season I'd say, versus 1221 last year. (I say "average" to take into account the usual problems with this thread)
I'd guesstimate that numbers will fall during the 3rd round of home/away between teams... over familiarity and all that, but then picking up again with the run ins. Next season numbers I'd hope would be stronger again seen as though this season is in the backdrop of last seasons shenanigans.
Bohs' trials pending, I'd say we could be through the worst of the league being reknowned as an embarassment

No reason why next season won't be in the backdrop of this year's shenanigans. You've missed out the fun in Cork for starters, and we're only a quarter of the way through the season yet.
