Jeez, don't be saying that now. Will ruin christmas for everyone.

Maybe we could all volunteer not to suggest such a horrible notion as O'Flynn leaving? Only bad things can come of that...

Ah dont'e be mentioning Flynny leaving now!
I can't see him going anyway- Who's going to want to buy someone with a bad enough injury. No English teams have the money to waste at the moment-they'd see it as a risk.

Don't want to be putting a dampner on anything, but am I the only one who is worried about the money aspect of this deal?? I personnally think fenn should be a great signing for us. I think he would be a great foil for johnny, George will play in midfield..well thats my thinking anyway.....

its the money thing thats bothering me.....supposedly worth around 60,000 a year....(rumours I know)...but I do think that it is big money he is signing for.... I just hope that the club has the money to spend and are not borrowing on future money earned or something like that...there is also the point that other players might not like the fact that he is being offered so much money and they will all want pay hikes....How much was georgies new contract worth??? it would have to be more than that surely...fenn should have been offered a solid deal with the oppurtunity to improve it depending on performances...

with the 2 full time dublin clubs reportedly struggling financially then does it make sense to be signing new players on those type of big money deals.?? I'm just hoping that we can afford it and are not putting too much stress on the bank balance.. Our turnover has to be bigger than the dublin clubs based soley on gates....Is this new deal with o' neills worth more than we think....6 figure sum supposedly but is it 100,000 or 500,000??
Think I'm being too much of a pesimist here...so should I just role freely with the good times..????? just dont want it all to come back and kick us in the nuts..

George is on more AFAIK. Most people here who have gone to Lennoxs chip emporium seem to think he's got a fairly good business head on him, so we'll hope he hasn't got a touch of the "Ridsdales".

Latest news from Waterford, they had a fundraising dinner thingy last night. The chairman Ger O'Brien claimed that he offered Fenn
a deal of 1,200 a week to stay.
If true it shows that Fenn has made the decision purely on football grounds. Respect.
Oh and they bought back Reynolds to keep the crowds from storming the place,

That may be true but Bohs get as much revenue from their pubs as they do gate receipts. Shel$ also have the pub trade + various non-football tolka revenues.

Some speculation on future successes is necessary but also have to be careful.

That is all the more reason to get a good commercial manager in. It is one side of the club that is lying dormant.
The merchanising side of things got a bit better alright in fairness.

hasn't improved enough IMO. the potential there is enormous...good quality merchandise will fly out the door at the club shop....they should consult a group of fans before they go ahead and order anything.....as in that rebel army t-shirt being abit crappy in design and no one buying it...so much potential for rebel army/cork city t-shirts and they make a go and make that..The club should have a couple of different scarf designs at any one time too.

I think they should seriously consider opening up a city centre shop. City merchandise alone would not keep it going, but no harm to make some money from barstoolers wanting to show their undying allegiance to "Spurs", Sunderland and such like.

I am delighted about the prospect of getting Fenn and a few more, but not at the risk of putting the club in the red.

    Rumours

Lads there is no solid facts out yet, we havnt even officially signed Fenn yet.

As for the "reported" wages he's going to be on

Lennox is no fool, he didnt amass his fortune by making hasty or silly business deals.

One thing is certain, look at all their message boards, the Jackeens are running scared of the Rebel Army and the impact we'll have next season.
    Oh no not them again

It is a good position to be in but there is still a load of stuff that i'd like to see happen off the pitch to ensure that things are stable on the pitch.

Also .... the club should look foward to the shedend being developed. That will definitely cause disruption at some some of whatever season it over laps and we'll need to be in a position to deal with that.

In the short term ... any new sponsors need to be good National wide companies. We should be looking for a good return on the advertising that they'll get. With O'Neill in the picture, and more importantly, the contract that they signed, thus having agreed to supply shirts etc. on demand, and with the growing popularity of city shirts, their logo will be all over the place.

I thought it was his father that amassed the fortune?

Now, now wws there's no need for jealousy!

What about if your dealer took over Pats? Would ye get into the CL then? The whole of Europe could laugh at your horrible manager!

Yeah, but they're damn good chips.

I don't think anyone here is expecting Lennox to pour cash into the club like abramovich. All we're saying is that he's shown himself to have a good business sense. Apart from the family business, he's been quite successful at revamping CCFC. ANd we expect him to use the cash from increased gate receipts/merchandising/etc. to push us closer to Shels/Bohs.

    Not unreasonable.
