But they have also got some thumpings under him over the past few seasons but he became flavour of the month when he had a good run in at the end of the season, including a win at Liverpool!! In fact if he was a manager of any other club he probably would have been sacked mid-season and there would be no talk of him getting the Anfield gig. Hopefully he'll bring James McCarthy to Liverpool if he gets the job.

Dave Whelan was actually talking about sacking him earlier in the season. He was on SSN last night telling the world he was only off the phone 45 minutes back from Liverpool. Rent a quote if ever there was one!

I remember Whelan making some comment about being curious as to why certain players were left out for some game but I don't think a sacking was ever on the cards. Are you just a little upset with him after his scathing attack on your soulless club KK

He's now manager, making their 3 most recent managers an Englishman, a Scotsman and a Irish man. Surprising, haven't seen any gutter English journos crack any Paddy jokes about it yet
