I wouldn't reflect too much on results in friendlies.I remember we lost to monaghan in a friendly a few seasons ago yet started the season very well. Injuries are mounting though, were we to get another couple we would be fairly fecked.
Poor start to the season all round, not helped of course by what happened off the pitch. On it we have a flood of players out or injured at the moment and by all accouts we were very poor last night. This season will be very tough esp the start.

I think were gonna miss Seamie and Butler![]()
Don't know about Butler but Seamie is two weeks with Everton and he wasn't even in the squad for the trip to Newcastle today so I'd say they'll be sending him back.
thats a bit harsh. as you said, he is only there two or three weeks and at the end of the day, everton are are top six premiership club and its obviously going to take time before he gets into the first team.
look at paddy mccourt abd niall mcginn. they are at celtic a lot longer than coleman is at everton and neither are in the first team yet.
just after reading your post again and maybe you were being sarcastic. i look a bit stupid now dont i???![]()

Don't worry, Hoop, Sligoman will keep an eye out for you.![]()
I think we are in for a slow start to the season. Cookie has brought in a few players, but I don't think he knows where or how to play them yet.
Keane - Will he be right back or centre half?
Morrison - Will he play on the left midlfield, right midfield or centre??
Parkhouse - I think he will play for the first few games, before Cookie realises that we are actually a better team with smaller centre forwards. In fact I predict that Cretaro wins more in the air than Parkhouse throughout the season.
Thanks to Cookies 2 weeks gardening leave, we will be two weeks behind discovering the best team for the league campaign.
However, after the start we had last season, nobody would have predicted European qualification. So I would hold back on the panic just yet and wait to see what unfolds.
"Overwhelmed"
No need to panic I agree. Although I think you may be underestimating Cook's and Carr's abilities to get the best out of players and there's no doubt in my mind that we need a big man up front to hold the ball up and retain it.
I specifically recall when we played Derry in the showgrounds last season we had the lion's share of posession but it broke down a lot because they had a couple of big, physical centre halves who could also cover the ground well and who didn't give Boco and co much change.
I believe Parkhouse will be good for us in that respect.
I think it'll take a few competitive games for the best line up to become apparent and even then that could change depending on our opposition and injuries, obviously. It's easy to harp back to the two weeeks when Cook went, but realistically I doubt if it makes a pile of difference.
Does anyone think that the players could have been adversely affected by Cooks messing about?
Well, they've had a month of mooning with Seanie.
