How much Season Tickets has your club sold?

Edit: Sorry, lunch called. I'm not trying to deny that we are a nation of event junkies - but I don't see how this backs up the theory. There is no history of season tickets in the GAA - this is the first year it was introduced, and I'd love to know how well it was publicised. And even with that, the figures you quoted shows there is some interest from the bigger counties.

I know very little about the GAA but I know enough to predict that Kerry and Kilkenny are very likely to give their fans a good run for their money this year. Now 102 and 216 season ticket sales are very poor when you consider they'll most likely be playing in front of 80,000 in September and many more locked out.

Man Utd get 76,000 for Inter but they'd still get 60,000+ for Rushden and Diamonds.

The Ireland rugby team have played to full houses of 80,000 this season where tickets are incredibly scarce. Then there were 16,000 at Canada despite a public sale and good advertising of same.

We brought 40,000 fans to Paris in 2004 for a WC qualifier and about 40 to the U21 game the night before.

I think the message for our league is how do we make our big games big events?

I have the GAA sales season ticket figures as of January 13th approx 6 weeks into an 8 week sales cycle. There probably was a late surge but despite a limit of 250 there was clearly no urgent demand. A couple more soldout as the start of their season approached.

Now allowing for Dublin and Tyrone being a sellout the demand seems much less in many cases than the equivalent LoI club. I understand from a colleague that Dublin soldout immediately leaving many disapponted.

Now most of those listed below will be playing to huge crowds this summer. This backs up the theory that so many Irish sports fans are event junkies.

dont really see your point. Its the 1st year of such a scheme and in my view a very good scheme too. You get a card which is scanned upon entry (something the fai should do for the internationals) and guarentees a ticket for you for every round your county advance in the championship (as long as your ercorded >60% attendance previously).
I have a gaa season ticket for monaghan. i think there were 200 monaghan season tickets sold. However, i was at the away game in Armagh on Sunday last and Monaghan probably made up easily about 2,500 of the crowd. Thats a lot to bring to an away game (albeit not too far), the first sunday in March.

I'm not sure what your point is. Yes ticket sales are poor, but it is the first year of season tickets in GAA.
The league is looked on by many as a warm-up to the main event in the summer, and the GAA are asking you to buy a season ticket for this, to guarantee your championship tickets.
Yes, there is a lot wrong with the way the GAA handle their tickets, but a lot of people have come up with different ways to ensure a steady supply of tickets, so they will probably need convincing that this is the way to go.

Meanwhile, I don't see this as evidence that we're event junkies, as I already mentioned.

I'm not criticising the scheme. Quite the contrary it seems to be well run, well marketed and great for fans. It is also very good value at less than a tenner a head for games.

In my post I said "Seems very cheap and a great deal for GAA fans."

It will eliminate the people who come out of the woodwork next September saying I never miss a Kerry game and now I can't get a ticket for the final.

My point is that the sales of these tickets would indicate the demand is there for the big events. It's the same for all the sports in this country. The problem for our league is none of our games fall into the "event junkie" category. Then again maybe it's not a problem and many of today's fans would resent hugely any bandwagon jumpers.

The FAI Cup Final used to be a huge event.

Interesting numbers.

The GAA have season tickets this season. These guarantee an All Ireland final ticket if your team reach the final. They were 75 euro for the first 8 games of national league and championship and a good seat at each game. You then pay extra for further rounds to the GAA final. Seems very cheap and a great deal for GAA fans.

Actually for once I'm not sure if the GAA made a good job of promoting this. I regularly go to Galway GAA games and this is the first I've heard of there being a GAA season ticket. Plus there is no culture of season tickets in GAA so I imagine it will take a while to sink in.

Plenty of them are having trouble. If they dont recieve them tomorrow they have to go to the Maldron Hotel at a certain time.

With no new applications until next Wednesday, the club can confirm that any applications that were received by the club up until yesterday (Tuesday) will be sent by swift post today.


If you have not received your season ticket in your post by Friday morning, please contact the club in person, at a special Shamrock Rovers temporary ticket enquiry office that will be set up in the Maldron hotel.

This office will have a full list of applicants and will endeavour to assist you with a ticket for Friday's game if your season ticket has not arrived in the post. This service will run from 11am until 3pm on Friday after which no further queries will be handled.

It is incumbent on the applicant to get to the Maldron and notify the club of any season ticket problems

All other tickets that have been pre booked, but not yet collected from the clubs' Centrepoint office, will be available for collection at this time.

As much as i don't like Shams its great to see them in the shape they are in. Selling 2,000 season tickets and rising. Its only good for the league and the way they are going about their business is great to see. They are a model for the Drogs, Corks, etc, of this league.

appologies, yes it does include the 10 year ticket,
but as RM mentioned only a small number were sold, less than 20
im just stating what ive read from the report on the AGM and these are the exact figures that were given. It does sound a little high but you would be surprised the amount of people that have them. I myself have one but never use it unless im very stuck and i know a lot of others do the same
