2.000 sold season tickets? I think that's really good, because It's more than some teams of German 2. Bundesliga have sold.

My Shels ticket was 133. And judging by the sheet at the game on Friday we got near enough to 200 sold I'd say.

It'll be interesting to see how many they can get when their capacity goes up during the season.

Well I got mine on Friday night before the game and I'm number 449 and that on the adult ticket.

There should be a lot more than that sold when you consider it is on €99 per season ticket and €49 for a child's season ticket. I was considering getting one for the little lad but not sure whether I'll bother.

As per www.dundalkfc.com we sold our 650th season ticket prior to the game v Bohs.

We seem to be great at even ending numbers, same for attendances !

This was a season record figure, even during the glory days of the 70`s + 80`s, no more than 400 were ever sold.

Shamrock Rovers FC has confirmed that all tickets have been sold for the first game in Tallaght against Sligo Rovers this Friday evening.
Following unprecedented demand for season tickets with circa 2,000 sold, the availability of matchday tickets for this game was limited. These have been on sale at the club office up until last Saturday and were suspended on Monday.
Following a full reconciliation the club can confirm that all 3,500 seats for the historic first match have been sold.
It will be disappointment for those who will miss out of the experience that Friday night promises to be. Season tickets have been on sale since December 2008.
Season ticket sales for all other games will re-open on Wednesday 18th March, all details are

    Interesting numbers.

The GAA have season tickets this season. These guarantee an All Ireland final ticket if your team reach the final. They were 75 euro for the first 8 games of national league and championship and a good seat at each game. You then pay extra for further rounds to the GAA final. Seems very cheap and a great deal for GAA fans.

    More details here.

I have the GAA sales season ticket figures as of January 13th approx 6 weeks into an 8 week sales cycle. There probably was a late surge but despite a limit of 250 there was clearly no urgent demand. A couple more soldout as the start of their season approached.

Now allowing for Dublin and Tyrone being a sellout the demand seems much less in many cases than the equivalent LoI club. I understand from a colleague that Dublin soldout immediately leaving many disapponted.

Now most of those listed below will be playing to huge crowds this summer. This backs up the theory that so many Irish sports fans are event junkies.

    Gaelic and hurling below.

    Team---------Tickets sold Team---------Tickets Sold

Dublin Sold Out (250) Cavan 28 Tipperary 237

    No it doesn't.

Edit: Sorry, lunch called. I'm not trying to deny that we are a nation of event junkies - but I don't see how this backs up the theory. There is no history of season tickets in the GAA - this is the first year it was introduced, and I'd love to know how well it was publicised. And even with that, the figures you quoted shows there is some interest from the bigger counties.
