The Linfield v Glentoran Boxing Day fixture is regularly the best attended league fixture of the year on this island.

I think that's the point, rather than whether it was 9,500 or 10,000 this past Boxing Day.
The Englishmen came over in the year 2005
But little did they know that we'd planned a wee surprise
Sir David scored the winner, and Windsor Park went wild
And this is what we sang...

So that is now the official figure given to the IFA?

So what? The exact attendance is not the issue. Here is the best attended league game of the season on this island being crushed. Another blow for our fading leagues.

The Appeals Board have overturned the IFA Disciplinary Committee's decision:

As regards the penalty, we feel that the penalty to ban playing on holidays is not in the best interests of the promotion of football as it prevents a large number of true supporters from seeing their teams play. Thus the Appeals panel is lifting this sanction.

Just in time for them to throw it out the window with their Irish Cup Semi Final kick-off decision.

You don't really think the club will get a clear response from their query do you?

To a degree I do, but you would be right it might not be clear. I have little doubt the ko time won't change but there are a few other questions that need answered around the procedure that they used esp. in regards to how they 'consulted' our club.

    Linfield V Glentoran

The game is on tonight on Sky Sports 1. I will be watching it. I hope it will be a good match, certainly better than watching Ebbsfleet United take on Northwich Victoria in a Blue Square Premier Special which is normally on.

I'll miss the first half though, as I'll be watching MNS on RTÉ

Good enough match. Disappointed I had to wait for 92 minutes before I saw a goal.

I would've thought Linfield would've had it in the bag by that stage. Apart from a Gary Hamilton chance after the penalty, Glentoran did no attacking and could easily have lost by more.
