They've no choice. They basically told us they'd pay us the money if they had it. They don't have the money to pay Dungannon, so they can't pay it and have to stall.
A very weak statement from Derry. Boils down to "why are you complaining about the delay, we'll give you the money eventually".
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

Thanks Stu, the fountain of knowledge on all of Derry City finances!
I seem to remember a Drogheda fan saying something similar a couple of years ago.
More seriously, he is saying that a UCD official claims he was told that you hadn't a pot to **** in when we went looking for money from you. Now it looks like you can't pay another bill. That should be worrying.
You can't spell failure without FAI
I doubt he went to talk to your groundsman about the money you owed us.
We're here because someone has stated you've avoided communication regarding money you owe. Either the nice man from Dungannon Swifts is lying or there's a pattern of evidence that you lot have money troubles. Given you're in the LoI, I'd be more surprised if you don't....at the end of the day what we discuss is all speculation unless our club has oficially stated otherwise
You can't spell failure without FAI
Why?
Asking for money you are owed is hardly taking the moral high ground.
What is club going to say? " Ah,well actually they are right"
Last year's accounts show that we are hardly rolling in it. The chairman has gone on the record to say that we are cutting costs.
it looks to the outsider that you are trying to avoid paying your bill and are treating dungannon whit a little contempt.. unless there is another side to this story
I wish i did not know then what I dont know now
Who said he could see your finances or was on your board?
We asked your officials for money after the league game in August; the reply was (and I paraphrase) "We're not trying to be pricks here, we'd pay you if we could, but we don't have any money." Fairly straightforward.
FFS It's only a matter of weeks since McGinn went to Celtic.
You would think (like a DS fan on IL forums) that it's been a year.
We havn't even arranged a friendly date for the transfer, so why are Swifts being so impatient? Tut tut.
So if you think Bohs are big read this. http://www.astronomy.ie/perpespective.html
Having agreed the transfer in principle in mid-December, the Contract took effect on 01 January 2009 i.e. seven weeks ago.
Now there may be good reason why the money hasn't yet actually been been paid (though according to Swifts, such business can be transacted in two days between IL clubs).
The problem is, however, that not only are DCFC not paying, but they've not even saying, either! That is, they've not even replied to numerous letters or returned calls where Swifts have enquired what's going on (hence the Writ of Disclosure which Swifts have felt compelled to issue).
Irrelevant - no-one on here has claimed that.
The proposed friendly will surely only account for a proportion of the transfer fee. Therefore DCFC will be due at least some cash from Celtic, 20% of which is due to be passed on to Swifts.
We must assume Celtic have paid up at least some of the cash element, since DCFC haven't cited that as a reason for their inability to pay Swifts.
Therefore, the question is not "Why are Swifts being so impatient?", rather it should be: "Why won't DCFC at least pick up the phone and talk to someone at Swifts?"
After all, it's hardly in Swifts' interest to go to the trouble and expense of legal action if at all avoidable.
I wasnt referring to this in particular, I was referring to our overall financial situation and alot telling us we're in the ****. Maribor the last accounts you saw were before the McCourt, Sammon and McGinn deals were included, and also the Celtic friendly.
Our chairman didnt come out and and say we would be making cuts, only to pay money for Ger O'Brien if we didnt have it. We have reduced the squad considerably, and have only signed 2. We made money on the above players and friendly, and also the Dream Draw.
I'm as ****ed off as the next man that we havnt settled our debts, but because this has come to light dosnt automatically have us up **** creek.

This issue was raised before wasn't it? Thought it was settled.

Alright keep your pants on BaldStudent, I read it the first time.
I agree, I'm cheesed off with my club and fairly worried with what is said to be done and the reality. Having said that, I'm fairly sure this issue over Stewart has come up before and City are reasonably confident in their position that he's a free agent, although I could be wrong. And if I'm not, then it smacks of an olympic sized bandwagon jump by Linfield.
